Stayed in the Old Brewery for 2 nights in February 08. Our room was very large but freezing cold- even though there was a radiator pumping out heat. On closer inspection the window nearest the bed had a full glass window pane missing. An attempt had been made to repair this with plexi glass but there were huge gaps and it had been poorly done with duct tape. It was obvious that this 'mend' had been in place for some time as there was mould growing and it was very dirty. The curtains were flapping with the strength of the draft coming through. Freezing!
Bathroom was in desperate need of refurbishment as was the general standard of the room, old carpet, bed linen, thin old pillows. Its a shame because the room is spacious with a pretty view onto the sunny square. The antiques are nice too, but its let down by the sad curtains, carpet etc.
Staff were not very friendly some to the point of surlyness (when I asked one for a second pillow, as they were so thin, rather than getting me another he curtly told me that he himself slept with none! End of conversation!)
Breakfast was ok and there are some kind staff but on the whole this hotel is in a sad state of disrepair.
