The old brewey House Hotel was an 18th century building with lots of superficial character which was sadly neglected by its curent management and staff.
the food was plentiful but either cold or burnt, the service was never with a smile and staff were great at multitasking, especially the chef who at one breakfast seating was cooking bacon, hoovering the hallway and feeding the fish....who said men can not multitask? Sadly the manager had failed to learn from the chef as single tasking was not yet in his portfolio unless it involved drinking wine and giving orders.
The rooms were clean and tidy when we arrived, during our 4 days neither of them were ever hoovered and the sink/bath/shower were not cleaned.
The complimentary bottle of water was used the first night and never replenished.
All in all this is a very sad experience and one everyone should avoid at all costs.
there was one glimmer of light, there was a young girl of 17 in the restauarant who worked hard, was very civil and extremely pleasing, one night she single handedly managed 24 covers whilst also preparing the starters and desserts and also getting the drinks from the bar and clearing tables. She alone had our total support, she was on duty each and every morning, lunchtime and evening time.
