I went to the Old Brewery in 2004 with my girl friend, as it was advertised by Swallow Hotels / London and Edinburgh Inns as having Georgian Charm, a gym, a swimming pool and sauna. As a fitness enthusiast, this attracted me and I felt it would be a great facility to be in. How wrong could I be!
Upon entering the leisure club, it was clear that the facility was not rain proof. I had to jump over a huge puddle of water IN DOORS. The squash courts had a leak in the roof, the changing rooms were dirty with broken lockers and disgusting looking limescale on the showers. The gym equipment was rusty and clearly in need of replacement, there was a broken mirror in the gym and even leaks onto the fitness equipment. The swimming pool beams holding the roof up were worringly rustly and water dripped on my head whilst swimming. The sauna looked like it had not been cleaned in years and bore the remnents of solidified body fat. As I left the club and walked back to the hotel, I could not see as there was no lighting in the car park.
The food in the restaurant was adequate but cold and the service was poor. The hotel manager on duty was drinking beer whilst serving customers which I felt was highly unprofessional. The rooms were large but had tiny televisions.
All in all I would recommend that any body considering a stay in Reepham or the surrounding area to go else where. A thoroughly disappointing stay in a Georgian complex, clearly and sadly neglected by it's present owners.
