Stayed at the Old Brewery House in Reepham for one Saturday night. The chap on reception was really helpful when we needed a taxi and rang around for us. The room was really big with a four poster bed and seperate bathroom area. Breakfast was great and the room, bed linen and towels were all really clean. The only downside was that the bedroom was in need of a full decorate, paint and wallpaper was really old. Other than that, it was an ideal base for a concert we went to see at Blicking Hall.

You have to start by considering this Hotel in the context of how much it costs. Its a very long time since I paid £20 per head for Bed and Breakfast in a nicely situated Hotel and at this price you have to forgive a few minor problems.

On all basic counts this was a good place to stay. Its set in a lovely market square which was surprisingly quiet during the night and certainly better than the television during the day. We had a four poster bed, the room was clean and not cramped and the facilities worked (including wifi). Its old fashioned in its decor and furnishings but the bed was comfy and warm. The bathroom was kept clean and was huge. The shower was good, the bath big and the water hot.

Breakfast was well cooked, buffet style and plenty of it. You could ask for alternatives but the range was a little narrow.

The restaurant was really good but a little pricey for what it offered. However, the food was all excellently cooked and tasty. The wine list was ok but watch you dont go for the youngest wines.

Problems. Well, although the bathroom was kept spotlessly clean we did watch a dead spider decompose over the six days as this was clearly slightly out of reach of the cleaner. The roof leaked on one day but that was after incredibly heavy rain and they have a funny system of letting you in after hours which resulted in me having to get out of bed one night to let some stranded guests in. The building is old, tired and in desperate need of major renovation but there is nothing really wrong with it and for the price you can afford a pair of blinkers.

Book directly with the hotel. If you can, speak to Maria. She found offer after offer for us and hence our very cheap rate. Maria is excellent and I hope the hotel chain looks after her.

Hi.
Just stayed 2 nights in the above.
The food and service was really good.
There are two restaurant areas and a lounge with no smoking and settees and fire.
The bar is okay.
The room we had No. 1 had four poster bed and was huge get your binoculars out to see the TV (windows need a good bit of work i.e Filler and paint). The bathroom is adequate and large .
Reepham (pronouced Reefam) is a lovely village and we look foward to staying at this hotel in the summer.
We understand that the hotel has just changed hands and is being updated.

“Lovely building but run down”

Old Brewery House

19 Aug 2006

This hotel is definitely due for refurbishment but we would have forgiven the rundown nature of the building if only the place had been spotless and the staff attentive and efficient.
Our room was not as clean as it might have been, the bathroom was in desperate need of a thorough cleaning and there were crumbs and dust on the surfaces in the bedroom.
Expedia's own rating was 3star but the official rating was only two which we did not discover until we arrived.
The one redeeming feature was the excellent breakfast.
Thank goodness we were only booked in for one night!
