Stayed for just the one night. Very friendly person when telephoned who offered a very good rate so initial impressions were very high. Also found that car parking was complimentary (unusual but very welcome) and with no apparent time restrictions. The impressions slipped when we arrived - I presume that alot of guests arrive by car which means parking at the rear of the hotel. This is a very 'tradesman' like entrance and doors and corridors are scuffed and knocked. One small cupboard was selotaped shut!. The hotel itself is very boutique-like and a mish-mash of styles and colours. Our room was large enough and had a large ensuite shower/bath, but the finish and feel was not that wonderful - one of the taps fell off the bath, closely followed by the tap in the shower. The dresser was covered in mug 'rings' on the surface. The carpet had a stain in the centre and a large sofa in the hallway outside the room also had a stain. On the positive side, the staff are all very friendly, the bed was very comfortable, and the room was pretty well insulated. The hotels best bit was its central location. It probably comes down to what you like when you stay away - if its an individual boutique hotel then this will suit.

Me and a friend stayed at the hotel as a stop over on a 2 day Christmas shopping expedition. We found the hotel to be a rather nice surprise. The exterior of the hotel is stunning and the art deco styling inside is nicely preserved. we found the reception staff to be very helpful and friendly, she was only too happy to tell us where the best shopping spots were and gave us a local map to help with our search. the room (Normandy) was beautifully decorated and rather spacious, The bathroom was huge with a rather impressive shower (although the water was rather hot.........seemingly only one temperature). Breakfast was served from 7-10am which was good as like a little lie in on a sunday. The breakfast was really tasty and the waiting staff very friendly and pleasant. Overall a really enjoyable stay. We'll definitely be staying again as the location was second to none.

Great hotel. Stay here all the time. The place has a great art deco look. The rooms are all large with very comfortable beds and great bathrooms - some with brilliantly large and deep baths. Food in the restuarant is great. Its in a excellent location close to everything in Norwich and the staff are friendly and fantastically helpful. Only negative is that WIFI not accessible from every room although it works fine in the Bar and restuarant.

We stayed at the St Giles House on a saturday night in November and were very impressed all round. Although we didnt eat in the restaurant we had some drinks in the bar and were suitably impressed with the ambience!

We stayed in room 1 which although I was nervous about after hearing reviews on here about the alleyway at the back of the hotel, we had no noise problems whatsoever. The room was beautifully decorated , fantastic waterfall overhead shower in the bathroom and there was even a Dvd player!

I also used the spa and have to say Fay was a fantastic therapist and I look forward to visiting the spa again if (or when) we go back to Norwich.

The location of the hotel was excellent too, only about 5 mins walk to the market and the 'norwich lanes' with plenty of speciality shops to wander round.

Overall, we will definately be staying here next time we visit Norwich.

This establishment is a jewel in the blandness of corporate hotels. The room (a luxury suite) was a delight from the tasteful décor to the very comfortable beds; from the fluffy towels to the sumptuous deep bath. However, tea and coffee making facilities are provided along with loose tea and ground coffee; the furniture is antique and exquisite…. sadly with many unsightly water marks as there is no where sensible provided to make a hot drink. What a shame! The inclusion of a tray would solve this. If you don’t want the bother of loose tea take your own tea bags.

The service we received was relaxed, friendly and efficient.
The restaurant menu is original and exciting and the food was excellent – beautifully presented and delicious.

The city centre is on your doorstep – the position couldn’t be better.
We enjoyed our brief stay there very much. If there are any negatives it is that because the hotel is housed in historic buildings most rooms are accessed by stairs if this is a problem check with the hotel – some rooms seemed more accessible than others.
Also given the confines of a historic building the rooms are not soundproofed so there is a little traffic noise and some plumbing noise from adjoining rooms. Don’t let this put you off though, you will sleep well.

Breakfast! Many reviews complain about the breakfast. I ordered continental breakfast.. this doesn’t really work as there is no buffet. I made a choice of 3 items which all arrived at once. It didn’t seem very good value for money. However, the breakfast menu is priced individually. My husband ordered cereal and then something cooked along with orange juice and coffee this cost less than the continental breakfast! Breakfast then seemed good value.
