A brilliant hideaway in a gated court which makes parking problems evaporate. The beds are so nice you don't want to get up and the ironed, crisp sheets and soft towels are like a five star hotel. Breakfasts are from local sources and very tasty and beautifully presented. If you are a person with interest in ships and ocean liners, the host, Clive, is a world expert and you will have most absorbing conversations. Norwich is a fantastic city anyway and this makes a great base from which to visit - off season and for open house
when I visited it is calmer in the city.

Gothic House is an oasis of calm in the centre of a busy city, and Clive makes his guests welcome as if they are old friends. With Tensing keeping a watchful eye over proceedings from a discreet distance, it reinforces the impression that you are sharing someone's much loved home.
There are lots of personal touches in the two bedrooms to complement Clive's stylish decor in the rest of the house, and his pleasure in living at Gothic House is reflected in the care he takes in ensuring you are comfortable.
Taking a leisurely breakfast is a treat, while at the other end of the day, you are spoilt for choice in selecting a restaurant for dinner, and within easy strolling distance.
There's even a secure parking space behind a gated entrance, so you can forget your car, and walk to explore the bustling City centre.
All in all, staying at Gothic House meant that a business trip felt more like a holiday for a few days.
Having to overnight in historic Norwich, I got this delightful period accommodation off the internet. Centrally situated yet quiet, the rooms are very clean and beautifully styled. The full English breakfast was excellent and served in a lovely dining room by a really thoughtful host. "Extras" included fluffy dressing gowns. The "dedicated" bathrooms rather than en suite are lovely and present no difficulties. This must surely be one of the best ever B & Bs and I consider it an absolute find.
This has to be the most luxurious B&B I have ever stayed in. From the moment we walked through the door, we were made to feel extremely welcome, and the room was both spacious and comfortable. The attention to detail was amazing - we each had our own dressing gown and slippers. Most other places insist on having the shower stuffed in the corner of the room but I was grateful that it was not the case here. It was only a short walk to the large shower room anyway, which was not an issue at all. Clive, the manager, was extemely flexible and ran with whatever we wanted to do, so if we were going to get up a bit late, he was more than happy to cater for that in the morning, and vice versa. The location is spot on, righ next to what is probably Norwich's best stocked real ale pub, the Kings Head, and it was a 5 minute walk at most to the centre of town. I would not hesitate in recommending this place to anyone. Utterly faultless.
