We have just returned from a wonderful weekend stay at Broom House to celebrate our anniversary. The guest house exceeded all of our expectations. We arrived to a beautiful evening meal, which we had previously booked, all home made. We then sat in the very relaxing lounge, with a cosy log fire burning, reading from the good variety of books and magazines provided for the visitors. We had planned to go out to the local pub for a drink, but we decided to stay sat by the fire, enjoying the peace and relaxation. Our bedroom (en suite) had just been decorated, including the bathroom all to a very high standard. The breakfast sets you up for the day, (did not need any lunch!). We were made to feel very welcome right from our arrival, and we look forward to staying again. There are lovely walks to be taken from Egton Bridge which we really enjoyed, and the two local pubs are both close by. We enjoyed a meal at the Postgate pub, with good friendly service and excellent choice of menu, and enjoyed going over the stepping stones to the Horseshoe for a drink. We would definitely recommend Broom House and wish we could have stayed for longer in the beautiful setting of a very pretty village.

My partner and I stayed here just before Xmas as a pre Xmas new year break and absolutly loved it. From the fantasic room ( very comfy bed) the the exceptional breakfasts to the wonderful views everything was perfect. Eating breakfast watching the birds on the feeder and the pheasants wondering about the garden was a great start to the day. The owners were brillant and so helpful I would love to go back in the summer when weather better.

My wife and I found Broom House delghtful, after a long drive in the dark over the moors it was a lovely surprise at the end of our journey. The host made us very welcome and the Cottage Suite was better than we expected. The food was excellent .We are looking forward to hopefully going back next year.

Just returned from our second visit to Broom House and once again we had an excellent stay. Located in a very quiet corner of Egton Bridge, this B&B offers accommodation to a high standard and the owners back this up with excellent service and food.

The lovely, isolated position of the house is still only a 10-15 minute walk from two enjoyable local pubs, both serving good food and real ales. The Horse Shoe can be approached via a series of stepping stones over the River Esk. Great on the way out but risky heading home after a few pints of beer! The village also boasts welcome transport links to both Whitby and the rest of the Esk Valley, with a train and local bus service to choose from.

If you want a quality place to stay, away from it all, yet only a short distance from Whitby and the rest of the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors - this is the place to stay.

Highlights - Egton Show is worth visiting and takes place every August (the 22nd in 2007). A typical Yorkshire country show with attractions ranging from giant veg to pretty ducks and well groomed ferrets.

This is a lovely B&B in a tucked away location with beautiful views and great hosts.

The B&B has plenty of parking and pretty garden grounds (the owners sell chutney made from the fruit in their orchard). Our room was at the top of the house and very comfortable with a good sized bathroom and the usual tea/coffee facilities. (With an added cookie jar which went down great when we got back from the local pub!)

There are 2 pubs/restaurants within walking distance of the B&B. We tried the Postgate first of all but unfortunately found the staff unhelpful and unwelcoming. We were told that without a reservation for the restaurant we couldn't get food - even though there were other people in the bar ordering while we had a drink. So, we took our money and went to the Horseshoe Hotel (accessible from Broom House by walking over the bridge (15 mins), or over the Stepping Stones (7 mins)), who welcomed us (and have a beautiful dog!), and served us good fresh food promptly.

When we mentioned we were going out for dinner and drinks to the owner of Broom House he offered us a torch for the walk home and then as we left ran out with the offer of an umbrella for the rain. Very kind and exceeds the service you would usually get elsewhere.

In the morning the breakfast was beautiful (we had a full english and herrings) with a great selection. The owner was also very lenient with us in regard to our checkout time allowing us an extra hour. (Oh! There's a lovely residents room with comfy sofas too.)

The only negative I can think of is that there wasn't a shower cubicle in our room, but there was a shower attachment on the bath which worked fine. The train track at the bottom of the garden was right outside our window and didn't cause any disruption at all. One train went past, but it was quite quiet.
