A hidden gem in a perfect setting. Accommodation, hosts, breakfast (with an additional choice of kippers or haddock) cannot be faulted. I am particularly fussy when it comes to bathrooms, but I was not disappointed, it was immaculate.
Great location to access the Moors, Whitby, Goathland (Aidensfield/Heartbeat country). If you have a car then make sure you visit Runswick Bay and Robin Hood Bay, very pretty. Although you need to be resonably fit as the descent/ascent to both of these bays is very steep.
For a local restaurant and pub I would recommend the Postgate restaurant in Egton Bridge. It is within walking distance (10 mins), but you would need a torch if you are returning to Broom House after dark. The food was exceptional, lovely proprietors.
I was disappointed with Whitby, although I am sure lots of people would disagree with me. Too many tourists, who didn't respect the area as far too many of them discarded their litter everywhere but the bins!! I expected to see cafes/bars with outdoor seating facing the harbour, instead it was Woolworths, Fish & Chip shops in abundance and amusement arcades. The East side of the Harbour (Whitby Abbey side) is much nicer and more traditional.
