A hidden gem in a perfect setting. Accommodation, hosts, breakfast (with an additional choice of kippers or haddock) cannot be faulted. I am particularly fussy when it comes to bathrooms, but I was not disappointed, it was immaculate.

Great location to access the Moors, Whitby, Goathland (Aidensfield/Heartbeat country). If you have a car then make sure you visit Runswick Bay and Robin Hood Bay, very pretty. Although you need to be resonably fit as the descent/ascent to both of these bays is very steep.

For a local restaurant and pub I would recommend the Postgate restaurant in Egton Bridge. It is within walking distance (10 mins), but you would need a torch if you are returning to Broom House after dark. The food was exceptional, lovely proprietors.

I was disappointed with Whitby, although I am sure lots of people would disagree with me. Too many tourists, who didn't respect the area as far too many of them discarded their litter everywhere but the bins!! I expected to see cafes/bars with outdoor seating facing the harbour, instead it was Woolworths, Fish & Chip shops in abundance and amusement arcades. The East side of the Harbour (Whitby Abbey side) is much nicer and more traditional.

Very pleasant high quality b&b. Good on all counts, though not cheap. Compact but very attractive room. Comfy bed. Nice little touches like a hair drier. Owners pleasant. Breakfasts good. Lovely scenery. Less than a mile from the Beggars Bridge (folkies will know the Vin Garbutt song) where we glimpsed an otter. A roe deer blocking the road outside early morning. Pheasants absolutely everywhere. The railway is below the garden but sadly we never saw one of the steam trains (or any other). An easy drive from Whitby. Would definitely recommend.

“Lovely B&B, lovely area”

My girlfriend and I stayed here for one night midweek in April. I'd booked this one because of the good reviews on TripAdvisor, and thankfully wasn't disappointed.

The B&B is in the middle of nowhere really, so if you're wanting to get away from it all then this will suit you fine. It's a beautiful area, six miles from Whitby (a genuinely lovely seaside town, not like Skegness or Cromer). There's loads of hills around, so is good for walking.

You should be aware that there is a train track about twenty yards from the house, but I only heard one go past in 24 hours, and that was during the day.

To be honest, the room that we had (Room 6) was rather small for £71 - if I'd be staying more than one night I'd feel a bit aggrieved considering the rooms of four-diamond B&B's I've stayed in for far less than that. The shower cubicle was very cramped, and I'm only a slender 6-footer, so I don't know how "guests of size" would cope. Still, maybe we just got a small room. On the upside, it was decorated to a very high standard and felt more cosy than cramped. My advice is that if you're wanting a longer stay that you ask for a larger room than standard.

The bed was very comfortable and breakfast was excellent. It's nice to feel like you're eating in a restaurant and not somebody's kitchen when staying at B&Bs.

I'd recommend this B&B if you're staying in the area, unless you know of a better one.

Broom House is set among the hills, trees, valleys and the peace and tranquility of the Esk Valley. This is the place to come to unwind, relax and experience how a Bed & Breakfast establishment should be run!

The hosts are welcoming, the house is immaculate and well decorated, and no sign of that familiar "un-loved" run-down look that many other B&Bs in the UK suffer. The rooms are cosy and spotlessly clean, and breakfast was something worth waiting for.

It's a great base to expore the Moors and Coast (Whitby is only 15 mins drive, or £11 taxi each way for a night out). David even booked us a table at the local pub, The Postgate (15 mins walk), which was a truly outstanding meal! (Restaurant prices but restaurant quality).

Book early, but also book the Postgate Pub at the same time as it is very busy. Very highly recommended.

excellent B&B.Beautiful house & gardens.Friendly owners servred us coffee in the garden when we arrived.High quality furnishings in rooms, very clean and luxurious. The only thing we did not like was that our bag was unpacked for us & everything put away, very tidy but a little intrusive.Excellent quality breakfasts.

10-15 minute walk to local pubs, last bit of walk very dark, take a torch. Would definitely go back.
