We arrrved on the Saturday at Carol and Kevin's to a wonderfully warm welcome, which set the tone for the whole of our stay. They were the best hosts we could wish for, and the room we were given was lovely, spotless and very nicely presented.

We very much could do as we pleased, and the location was very convenient. We travelled by train, and so walked up the hill to Homeleigh in about 10 mins.

Breakfast was great - whatever we wanted, no trouble at all. It felt as though we were staying with friends. We used Trip Advisor to find this B & B and were not disapointed. We won't need to use Trip Advisor again for our next Whitby visit, as this is where we will choose again.

And Rosie the dog is lovely too,

We couldn't speak highly enough of the efforts Carol and Kevin go to with this B & B. - any one who disagrees with this, has unrealistic expectations.

Despite excellent reviews, somewhat disppointing. Situated on busy main road. Off street car parking but required shuffling of cars & keys to be left as many spaces boxed in. Proprietor somewhat inflexible over breakfast times refusing to do earlier breakfast after one of our party was 5 mins late on first day! Breakfast average but no wholemeal bread option. Rooms quite small & cramped. Overall, very average & would not stay again.

Stopped at HOLMLEIGH for a two night break in begining of June.
Having stayed with the Andersons before, we knew what to expect. And we were not disappointed.
They have altered the rooms around and redecorated, all to their own high standards. We asked for a room on the top floor at the back, and got it. Lovely room, comfy bed, again newly decorated.
They also have a newly renovated room on the ground floor, for guests that do not do stairs.
Breakfast is now served in the front room, which is spacious, light and airy. Breakfast, still a great plateful that gives you a good start to the day. As usual Kev and Carol cannot do enough for their guests, and work hard to keep Holmleigh spick and span ( CLEAN).
Ask them about the EARLY BIRD DINNER at the hotel at the bottom of the hill. Nice meal good value.

We stayed for 2 nights, mid-week, and found the place spotless, comfortable & quiet at night. I'd specifically asked for a quiet room, and Carol had put me at the rear of the house, on the top floor. The bed's were very comfortable - vital for me, as I have back trouble. The breakfasts were enormous, with plentiful re-fills of real coffee. Carol and Kevin were very friendly, and helpful with ideas of what to see. The off-street parking is a real bonus in Whitby, where parking can be a nightmare. Whitby is a great place to visit, especially the abbey, the church, the Magpie cafe and the White Horse & Griffin restaurant (though the latter is expensive), and the B&B is only 5 minutes walk from the centre.
We'd recommend this B&B, and would happily stay again.

We can honestly say that we have never stayed in such a fantastic, clean, homely, friendly bed and breakfast.
My husband has stayed in some 200 b&b's up and down the country over the years with work and can honestly say he has never stayed in such luxury anywhere else!!!
We have stayed in 5 star hotels and not received the same treatment, quality of service, cleanliness as we have at Holmeleigh.
Kev and Carol are the salt of the earth Yorkshire folk who will bend over backwards to help, advise and make your stay the best possible.
The breakfast is to die for, we eat that and then dont eat again until late evening it's that good!!
All the rooms are spotless, warm and cosy, every little home from home you could wish for.
We have visited there loadsa times now in the last 2 years and will continue to do so for ever and ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cheers Kev & Carol. xx
