As one of our party had a weak leg and we only had a short time available, we decided to take the bus tour around the City, rather than walk. This tour was not free however, it cost us GBP 9 each. We enjoyed it and thought it was worthwhile, particularly if you were going to take advantage of the fact that the pass lasted for 24 hours, and you could keep getting on and off. Even though we only went around once and got off once, we still thought it was worth it.
We had great commentary and views around the top of the walls and of each of the Gates/entrance ways and learned a lot about the history of York. Look out for the black cats on some of the houses!
Good photo opportunities abound as you are up high and away from pedestrians and cars, so get a great vantage point.
Traffic and parking can be a real problem in York, so this is a great way of parking on the city edge and getting around the City, without the headache and time taken to find a parking space!
Worth doing, particularly if you can take the whole day to visit the City of York and take advantage of getting on and off the bus in between attractions.
