I was dragged to this museum by my very enthusiastic husband and two sons, and was expecting to be bored to tears. Wrong! Of all the things we did in York, this was one of the few free places we visited and probably my favourite museum. I never realised that trains/engines were so big, so beautiful, and so important historically. From Stephenson's Rocket to the Japanese Bullet train, every sort of train is there, lovingly restored and totally splendid. I could have spent hours and hours there, but ironically my sons ran out of steam. (No pun intended!!)
Loved it. Would go again. Go, I urge you. I'm converted and just slipping into my anorak...
