If you are going to York anytime soon, stay here! I booked this B&B based on the 'rave' reviews I read on tripadvisor and The York City tourist board page. My partner pointed out that they all sounded 'made up' as they were so glowing. I can assure you they are not. This is an exceptional Guest House: beautifully decorated and fitted out; comfortable bed; shower with very good water pressure; the usual tea/coffee/water but nice touches - we ate our biscuits in the afternoon after check-in and they were replaced by the time we came back early evening after a wander around York centre which really is only 5 mins walk away. Mark & Melanie Richardson, the owners/hosts are really nice people, I'd have liked to have stayed longer just to get to know them better! We made a bit of a mess with our booking and they accommodated my mistake and I really appreciated this kindness. We were in York for a friends 50th birthday party and chose to have a lay in on Sunday rather than get up for a breakfast of locally sourced produce. This will be a choice I won't make next time I stay - I want to sample that breakfast! Needless to say the room and en-suite were extremely clean, bedding and towels were of good quality etc etc. We had room 14 which is on the top floor but is no less comfortable and roomy for being on the top floor. Although it faced onto the road, we heard no road noise and slept the sound sleep of people who have stayed up too late for their age but are in a comfy bed!! By the way, when in York visit the House of Trembling Madness 'drinking hall' on Stonegate - Exceptional!
