Passed this establishment for many years and never once fancied going in to eat.
It appeared that my first instinct all those times was right.
In town on Friday 18/11/11, looking for lunch, once again walked past this place and went around the corner to Oscars but it was full, so we went back to Wildes, thought lets give it a try.
I think the fact one was full and the other was not, does speak volumes in York.
Outside it quotes Homemade Burgers, well the factory in which they are made may be called ‘Homemade’, but if the disgusting thing that I was served was Homemade I will run round York naked.
Now when I order a burger in a pub or restaurant I expect a thick juicy made on site burger, one of the easiest things to make and takes no time at all.
I ordered the Black & blue, Cajun spice with Brie, well a burger it was not, it was a MacDonalds style pattie, perfectly round flat and hard, basically bought in frozen junk.
Few chips and a bit of green came with this dish.
So so disappointed, and £10 for a disgusting pattie, total rip off.
My partner had Potato Melts or Wedges, again the size of these suggest they are also bought in, too uniformed, for somewhere that cannot be bothered to make a basic burger in the kitchen I very much doubt that they would take the time to get the wedges uniformed. Potato wedges in a microwave not much more you can say about that.
There is no excuse for buying in this junk from mass producers other than sheer laziness.
Staff friendly, but dirty tables because the poor girl was on her own, chipped pots brought to the table too.
I have walked passed this place for years and I will carry on walking by and go to Oscars, at least they know what a burger is.
