We booked this hotel last minute as it was a surprise for my Girlfriends Birthday Party. We have been to York many a time, its where we first met. I decided to book this hotel on the looks and wished I did more research.
On arrival we were greeted by the staff and we were blown away by the grounds, style of building and the main reception bit. I even nudged my girlfriend and said "this is going to be good". We were then taken to our room which we had to go outside. Not a massive issue as they were doing some works. We took some pictures on the way to the room as the hotel is very Grand.
Then we arrived at our room. It was 'pkay' at the most. Nothing in comparison to the hotel. You would have thought we had just walked into another hotel. The room was small, and desperatly needed a facelift. It had second screen of windows to stop the noise coming in from outside. The aircon Unit was above the bed. The TV was old school. The bathroom was badly designed and you couldnt sit on the toilet. All in all probably a 2 star room if it was lucky
We had to leave early too as the Queen was arriving and we would be locked in the car park the day after. I would not stay here again as I found the deception of seeing a grand reception the show the cloakroom as a bedroom to be deceptive
