V comfortable bed, great shower pressure, large TV, hair dryer in room, quiet. Decent but quite traditional decor (friend said it reminded him of his gran's home, plus doorframe to the annex building also peeling away). Main gripe was that I was told at breakfast half an hour from closing time that one of the three main options, a continental breakfast (croissant, fruit salad and yoghurt), had run out of the fruit salad. When I said I was happy to wait for the fruit salad, staff member comes back to say that it would take half an hour to make up. There were apologies, but in my view, it's not acceptable for a "4* service". I felt like I was being fobbed off. Details that also made it less than 4* for me included the fact that they serve concentrate orange juice rather than fresh, and the toiletries felt cheap (shower gel was very 'male' scented). Fine for a night and had also not paid that much, but not really my cup of tea. Given other 4* b&bs I've been to where they bend over backwards to make you happy, the little details and inflexibility of the service made it very 3* for me, which is fine if that's what you're expecting. Although it's a little further from centre of town, it's still convenient for those able and happy to walk 5-10 minutes more from centre.
