“Perfect Accomodation”

Bishops Hotel

5 Apr 2008

This was our second visi to the hotel and this time we were even more pleased than we were last time.

As a family of four, we have 2 girls aged 3 and 10, and the suite we stayed in -The Oak Suite was more than ideal. With a luxury yet still homely feel, it was really perfect. Cleanliness was second to none(and i am fussy!) Felt like a luxury appartment, and overlooked gardens.

The girls loved the hotel and the garden was fantastic with a gigantic trampoline (home from home)-In fact if they had it their way they would have spent the whole time in the garden!)

Breakfast excellent, huge choice of food-all really fresh and lovely.
They recommended a beautiful Italian Cellar restaurant just a small stroll away from the hotel, and it was fantastic. Really children friendly, yet still had a romantic cosy feel to it if you didnt have children.

Highly recommend this one for families but couples too...lovely atmosphere, great rooms, clean, lovely food and friendly staff too.Give it a go:-}

I can't say enough about the Bishop's Hotel. I phoned to make my booking and it was such fun to choose two rooms from their verbal descriptions (my partner and I stayed in the romantic Rose Room and my Mum the Sunflower Suite - and they kindly put her far down the hall from us...).

The Rose Room was so great that I long to redecorate our bedroom like that - the colors were so soothing, the canopy bed so decadent, and there were beautiful touches like scattered fabric rose petals and lovely cushions...

I was thrilled by the Body Shop bath products!

At breakfast they dealt with my gluten-free diet with no fuss, which I appreciated.

The location was good - close enough to the train station that you can walk (if your luggage is one peice). After the hustle and bustle of being in town all day it was a nice walk home: not far, but getting quieter and quieter as you go. A nice wind-down.

“No Disappointments!”

Bishops Hotel

1 Apr 2008

I have a phobia of hotels and B&Bs as we have had our fair share of disappointments! Bishop's hotel passed my test, friendly but professional staff ,clean pleasant room and more importantly nice bathroom! Plus lovely breakfast! We statyed in the Sunflower Room and can highly recomend it!

The hotel owners were away during our stay and left the front of house to Julian and Ann who really looked after us making sure our stay was perfect! They recommended a restaraunt on our first evening and ordered a cab for us, it was a fabulous place to eat and real value for money!

We will most certainly be back next time we visit York!

“Something for all the family”

Bishops Hotel

31 Mar 2008

We stayed at the Bishops with a 4 & 6 year old. There was something that appealed to us all. The children liked the garden, books, videos and pancakes for breakfast - whilst we enjoyed a sunny evening drink in the garden beside a beautiful magnolia tree about to flower, the relaxing room and bathroom and excellent variety for breakfast.
From the minute we arrived to leaving the staff couldn't have been more helpful - definately going 'the extra mile' in a genuine manner.

.Worth another visit.

“Stay here - you will not be dissapointed - exceptional value for money!!!”

Bishops Hotel

29 Mar 2008

We found the Bishops by chance when looking for a family friendly base whilst exploring York - what a find!
On arrival Julian couldn't have been more welcoming, friendly and helpful, our room (the Oak suite) was absolutely fantastic. Having stayed in some dubious family rooms in the past we had the impression that the majority of family rooms are the least cared for in most hotels and resorts, that is, until we stayed at the Bishops Hotel!
The oak suite with it's sumptous decor, luxurious furnishings comfortable lounge area and fabulous king sized bed was a truely wonderful room - The seperate childrens room with lovely wooden bunk beds and toys to play with was comfortable and welcoming and the modern bathroom complete with complementary body shop products for use during the stay was warm and spotlessley clean with soft white towels.
After an exciting days sightseeing (York centre was in easy walking distance from the hotel - our 4 year old managed it no problem!) it was lovely to come back to the hotel, bath the kids put them to bed then sit down and relax in the lovely lounge area and watch the huge TV whilst drinking a glass of wine in the comfort of our own room.
There is also a wonderful conservatory to relax in in the evening overlooking the garden should you choose and as the hotel is licensed this is complete with an honour bar stocked with a lovely selection of wines and beers for you to enjoy.
Breakfast was a wonderful experience where we were served by a lovely smiling Anne - nothing was too much trouble and the food was quick and delicious. Even the cooked breakfast felt healthy as everything was cooked with minimal fat/oil and all the meats appeared grilled rather than fried. There was a huge selection available with cereals, fresh fruit salads, yoghurts and of course a selection of cooked breakfasts - ranging from childrens boiled egg with soldiers to smoked salmon and scrambled eggs to of course the full English which I have been reliably informed by Julian is soon to be the full Yorkshire where all produce is locally sourced- Fantastic!
We had originally decided we would stay at the Premier Inn but after seeing it's location and based on first impressions we are so glad we chose the Bishops hotel - It may not be the cheapest hotel but you get what you pay for and we felt it offered excellent vaule for money and is a truly welcoming and upmarket hotel charging a fraction of the price you would expect to find at a hotel of this calibre.
We will be back (as a couple!) and we have no hesitation in highly recommending this hotel to all and especially families.
