We spent 2 nights here recently in one of our favourite English cities but this was our first time at Blossoms. Even though we arrived early for check in we were given the choice of two ground floor rooms. We took Room 2 because it was larger and brighter although there was little privacy. It was a choice of either keeping the blinds closed or leaving them up for light and losing privacy. The window was enormous in keeping with the style of the building and a sheer curtain would have solved the problem.
When we returned at night our room was lovely and warm - it felt like it had underfloor heating - but we were told room 2 was on top of the boilers. The 2 male and 1 female staff members we met during our stay were very friendly, we were offered a cup of tea on arrival and they phoned a taxi service for us when we left.
It's a 10 minute level walk into the heart of York itself and the relatively late check-out (I think it was noon?) meant we were still able to visit attractions on our last morning. I would stay there again
