In fairness, the management were very nice indeed, the bathroom was large and clean, the breakfast was good enough, and the location convenient. However, paid a princely price for room that had the worst condition beds, literally sagging and concave in middle as you looked at them and pure torture to sleep in with old sheets and outdated room with cracked window and feeling of grunginess--felt like we were staying in a bad hostel. of all the places in England and Scotland we stayed, this was the worst and yet the highest priced. I am still mystified when I read the other reviews with the conditon of the room we experienced.

17 hens have just arrived home after the most amazing weekend in York. Hedley House was THE most perfect place for us to stay. The staff were fantastic and couldn't do enough for us including sticking "the bride to be's school photos" around the hotel for us prior to arriving. The rooms were brilliant and we were all together. The facilities were well above expectations and everything was clean and tidy. The staff within the hotel were very friendly and we even borrowed them to take pictures of us all. The garden is a fantastic meeting place and we were blessed with fabulous weather too. They very kindly offered us a late breakfast on the Sunday allowing us to sleep off our hangovers just that little bit longer. Each and every one of us has said that we will DEFINITELY return to Hedley House again and have no problem in recommending to anyone.

I have now stayed at the Hedley House on a number of occasions for work and pleasure. There are no five star facilities but who need them when the friendliness of the staff is so good. There is nothing they will not do to make your stay special, it could be the homemade banana cake, the "to die for" chocolate torte or even the ice cold bottle of wine in the spa!!! In fact if you are really feeling energetic.. Greg (the owner) will take you out on one of his famous runs in the amazing countryside!!! This is truly a home from home... Maybe i should write this review in case there is no room next time i try and book!!!

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights to celebrate my 40th birthday in April, we found the hotel on tripadvisor and would definately recommend anyone to stay there. Staff were very helpful and friendly, somebody always around to help if needed. The hotel is modern fresh and clean, the room large and spotlessly clean and tidy, breakfast very tasty and a good start to the day! It took us less than 10 minutes to walk slowly into town centre.
We will definately be returning as soon as possible, thankyou to all at Hedley House Hotel for making our stay so lovely.
