We have visited York on a number of occasions and stayed in various hotels and guest houses, and feel that Airden House is the best one to date. It is obvious that a great deal of refurbishment has taken place since some of the earlier reviews were posted as the room we stayed in was tastefully decorated with a small but bright and modern bathroom. The breakfasts were generous and the service very friendly. The location is pretty good as well; only a five minute walk from the Minster. We really feel it uneccessary to look for an alternative place to stay in York now and will return to Airden House time and time again.

We stayed three nights at this Hotel. The first two nights were great, room was a little small but clean and comfortable. We had to change to another room on the third night. The bed was the worst bed we have slept in. We were asked to pay 2 quid extra each.

On the plus side breakfast was good and staff were very friendly and helpful. Would suggest owners upgrade room 1.

This B&B had recently been acquired by a new owner, and she is striving to keep up its good reputation with efficiency and friendliness. The rooms and public areas are clean and comfortable. The shared bath small, but clean. An in-room washstand is a convenience. Beds were comfortable with warm comforters. The owner does not mind if you come and go during the day, something some guide books will discourage you from doing at a B&B. There is a small but comfortable sitting area on the main floor for guests. Breakfast is served in a cheery front parlor overlooking the front garden. This B&B was a bit simpler than some I have seen, but makes up for it in location (few minutes to Minster area and train station), the fresh paint and bed linens and friendly atmosphere.
