This hotel has just changed name as was previously the Quality Hotel. It is a small modern hotel on 5 floors. Rooms are on the small side compared with say a Premier Inn or Holiday Inn Express, but are modern with good fittings. The hotel is centrally located. It is opposite a standalone wetherspoons which has a travelodge next to it. There is no other nightlife in the immediate area contrary to some reviews I have seen on this website. I was located on the top floor at the rear, and experienced no noise problems. You can hear noise (doors opening/closing etc) from the corridor but this is like most hotels I have stayed at; it's a fact of life!
Parking is the major issue. The hotel apparantely have use of a local car park but there are very limited spaces available. I was out most of the time with my car. and didn't need to investigate this. You can park in the surrounding streets for 60p per hour 08:00 - 20:00 Mon-Sat. Some more distant streets are 08:00: 18:00 which is a bit more reasonable. I found it easy to get a space and because I was out most of the time spent little money on parking. This however is definitely a consideration if your car is going to be there 24/7. There is a large public car park next to the hotel but did not check the rates.
The hotel is a little souless but similar to most modern chain hotels. I got a room only rate of £50 and didn't bother with breakfast which was £9.50 or £15 for two. If you want it cheaper Wetherspoons does a much cheaper cooked breakfast from 08:00am. You get tea/coffee and biscuits in the room. There is a small bar and restaurant. I didn't try either.
Overall, for the price especially in York which is not the cheapest, I felt it was good value
