Four of us (2 husbands plus wives) went for the Ice Hockey play off on April bank holiday weekend and stayed a Saturday night for £95 bed and breakfast
The location is good (near the Castle and handy for walking into the city centre,)and there is parking on hand with some 12 spaces outside the hotel and with a NCP next door. £8.50 to park for the night.
.We had a "pokey" little room -Room 205.Clean but with a mini sized double bed (or was it a large single?),handkerchiefs for curtains (which kept no light out) thin walls (you could hear everything outside in the corridor loudly and clearly The windows kept no sounds out, which is pretty annoying when there is a wedding party at the hotel as there was this Saturday night. The wedding party was across the way and was very noisy,so little sleep until about 2 am.We were told when we arrived that there was a wedding party on and quite a few guests were staying the night
Breakfast was adequate although we had to wait 10 mins for a table and 10-15 mins for bacon ,sausages etc due to the demand as the Hotel was full.We also had an evening meal which was quite reasonable and tasty enough although it did feel as if you were eating in a cafe rather than an hotel.
All in all we were glad to get away on Sunday morning .One thing I would like to mention is that the service ( at reception,at the bar,at the evening meal and on checking out) provided by Sam (she seemed to be doing everything except the cooking!) was, in difficult circumstances, excepional. Well done Sam.
