My Wife and I have stayed in Holiday Inns all around the country and once inside the building its hard to tell one from another. This hotel is so much different and this is noticeable even as you drive up to it.
The main part of the hotel is the refurbished Royal Victoria Station Hotel built in the 1860s. Inside a lot of the Victorian style has been incorporated and it is well worth taking a little time to walk around the building, exploring the different rooms and looking at the old photographs of the hotel and railway.
We had an executive room for four to share and by a special deal we only paid £95 for two nights including full breakfast! (£11.87 each per night inc full breakfast!!! )
The room was large and comfortable, the bathroom was excellent and our room was quiet, although some of the corridors were a bit noisy due to a Freddie Mercury tribute night in the ballroom.
If you want to be sure of a quiet night it would be best to avoid a tribute weekend.
The breakfast was very very good with a huge selection of cooked and continental food, and despite the fact that the hotel was full on sunday morning due to a lot of basketball teams staying, the service was still prompt.
Some of the decor was starting to show a bit wear and tear but this didnt spoil the overall atmosphere of the hotel.
We would definitely stay here again.
