“Wow what a hotel !!!!”

Aston Hall Hotel

15 Mar 2008

I have just recently spent two nights at this amazing hotel in South Yorkshire. I am now at my time of life when I need to stay somewhere with class, not only with the quality of the bedrooms but also with the quality of the food, service and staff.
This hotel hits the stop on all those.
I stayed in one of there smaller rooms as the hotel was quite busy but the room was very comfortable and well furnished with all the modern cons e.g. flat screen T V and DVD player, and a bathroom that was great too, decent shower big soft towels, not the small ones you normally get,I was quite surprised to find that Reception had a selection of DVD's for you to borrow if you needed them.
I had Dinner on both nights of my stay, as you do generally try the food on your first night, but as it was so excellent and the staff were too, I ate there the second night too.
I went down to the bar for a drink before dinner, and studied the menu while nibbling on a lovely selection of bread sticks, Locally made Yorkshire Crisps and homemade Hummus(as I found out from the staff). All the staff are very attentive and very well trained, and friendly.
The Quality of the dinner was excellent with a little appitiser from the chef to start you off.
The restaurant is small but very comfortable and full of atmosphere and elegantly decorated.
The tables are set with crisp white linen, silver cutlery and decent wine glasses( what a relief).
I would recommend this hotel to anyone in the area, and the good news is it is adding another 36 bedrooms ( after talking to the staff ) which are due to open shortly. It is no wonder it is the best wedding venue and hotel in South Yorkshire.

A visit is a must .

“A delightful stay”

I do much travelling as part of my job and as a result stay in many, many hotels ranging from large city centre to country house hotels across the country and also on the continent. As a result my experiences range from good to utterley disastrous with everything in between also. Because of the difficulty in finding a hotel that provides satisfactory service and product on a regular basis, I now make a habit to sing the praises of those that do (it doesnt take up a great deal of my time!)

I arrived there early evening and was greeted very professionally by a lovely receptionist who was very efficient and polite. I was meeting a colleague in the restaurant for a meal which always makes me a little aprehensive, as hotel restaurants are a little hit and miss. I went to my room and was delighted at the standard of the room. A very contemporary look but with essential comforts - plasma screen, CD Player, etc.

I then met my colleague in the bar and enjoyed a drink in pleasant surroundings being served by the all too obviously very well trained staff. When shown the menu imagine my delight at the fact they had all of my favourite dishes - a nice problem to have! The food itself was superb and the service remained faultless throughout. The hotel is also set in what appears to be a quaint little village amongst superb grounds, I hope to enjoy the place in the summer for an evening beer in the gardens.

The only fault I can find is the capacity of the hotel - I tried to re-book for a week after but alas they had no rooms left, it is currently only a 17 bedroom hotel. I was greeted however by the pleasing news that the hotel is currently extending to 50+ bedrooms this year which will hopefully mean the ability to stay whenever my work takes me to Yorkshire.

I'd recommend to any business travellers out there as a reward for all of the dire places you will no doubt have had to endure, but also the standard of the restaurant is second to none and i'm sure any locals who havent tried it are missing out in a real jewell.

Eleven out of Ten!

“Top staff and public areas, dodgy unrenovated hotel rooms”

Spent one night in late March '06 at the hotel - the plus points were : very helpful and friendly staff, newly renovated and redocorated reception, bar and restaurant areas, tastefully furnished and clean, modern ambience.
Food in the restaurant was pretty good, fairly imaginative with great vegetables in particular, although poor 'plastic' bread. Good service. I understand they are in the process of renovating the bedrooms too, and boy, do they need it !! Had the misfortune to stay in an unrenovated bedroom, and although the bed itself was OK for a reasonable night's sleep, the bathroom was prehistoric as indeed was the room itself, so if you do stay there, make sure you get one of the renovated rooms!

“WOW! What a treat! Fantastic hotel near sheffield”

Aston Hall Hotel

WOW! What an excellent experience! Stayed at the Aston Hall Hotel on Monday 13th February 2006 for 1 night with my partner. We frequent both Leeds and Sheffield on business and have for the past year always stayed at 'Woodlands hotel' in leeds. Aston Hall Hotel is a new acquired sister property of 'Woodlands' so we were eager to give it a try, and we are so happy we did! The hotel is currently under discrete renovation of all bedrooms and public areas, however the suites have been completed, hence we upgraded on arrival to a suite. This was definatley worth while, their is no comparison between the old hotel rooms and the new suites. The suites all come fully equipped with DVD players, free standing bath tubs, and seperate wetrooms, HEAVEN! It is a great shame we were staying on business as we didnt get a real chance to endulge the delights of our suite! I have however promised my partner we will return very soon on a weekend break, as we both loved it so much! We may even consider returning later this month on lesuire then later in the year after some of the public areas have been transformed as the plans for the renovation look amazing. An important mention is also the service which was very attentive and discrete. Unfortunatley we didnt get chance to sample the restaurant but it did look fantastic and promises to be of same standard as Woodlands, if not better! I was shocked to read on here such a negative review prior to this, hence i have later learned that the hotel aquired a new General Manager the beginning of February 2006.
Thankyou Aston Hall Hotel for a great stay and we look forward to returning to your hospitality in the very near future!

“Aston Hall - very poor”

Aston Hall Hotel

Poor customer service at Aston Hall
Aston Hall happily took £000s of our money for a Dec05 wedding, and then advised us months later that they had doubled booked us with a Xmas party. The response was unapologetic, rude + shoddy - we were treated with contempt when the venue had spoiled the most important day of our lives. We lost money on deposits and postage spent on inviting people to our wedding at Aston Hall. We were refused compensation and had to reschedule our wedding to take place in 2006 as by that time all Xmas wedding dates were booked up in all venues. We just wanted to advise people that if the customer service at this venue is bad for a wedidng costing 10s of 1000s then what would it be like for a a one night stay. Thank you.
