I cancelled a reservation at another Sheffield hotel on the strength of its awful Tripadvisor reviews, and booked in at Hardwick House. A warm welcome, beautiful (and slightly eccentric!) family home, comfortable bed, clean, simple, and pleasant. Breakfast was very good indeed. Restaurants and pubs are close, and it's within walking distance of the middle of town. I can't recommend this highly enough, much better value than an hotel. (Stayed January 2005).

We stayed a night at this fantastic little B&B not far from Sheffield city centre. We stayed in the twin room which was very comfortable, clean and decorated very tastefully. The whole house is beautifully presented and very homely. What made our stay most enjoyable was the warm welcome we received and the fantastic cooked breakfast! It is very reasonably priced, in a good location for everything that Eccleshaw Road offers plus the peak district is on the doorstep. It was a real find and next time in the area we hope to stay in one of their other individually themed rooms.

I found the hardwick house B&B with some difficulty, because they don't have a sign outside, though I'm told this is normal practice in the city. The place was very nice, and exactly as it appeared on the website, except for the chickens in the garden (endlessly entertaining) and the views over Sheffield city (surprisingly nice)We thought it was brilliant value for money, and refreshingly different. We will always use them when we visit our son at university, as it was very convenient in many ways
