We didnt read the other reviews till the night before we stayed here.We booked it with 3 friends because of its location near Eccleshall Rd as we were meeting up with some local friends there. When we arrived at about 4pm to book in the main door was firmly shut & it looked like no one was home.
We waited abt 5 mins & several knocks later the lady of the house (Sue I presume) answered. We went into the hall. She couldnt quite get her head around the fact that 2 of our party were coming on later & that the 2 people behind us were a seperate check in.Our local friend explained that she wanted to come up with us to see our rooms as she wanted somewhere to recommend to friens & family but "Sue" wasnt exactly inviting to her either & gave her no encouragement to have a look around as potential buisness-She just crisply asked her "have you got a booking?" despite my friends explanation.
WE climbed the stairs to the family room on the top floor (not easy when you are 6 mths pregnant in the heat & with a tired 5 yr old). The room was pleasant though very warm. Some wires were sticking out of the wall above the childs bed though taped up.There was an adequate electrical shower. We had to pre book the time we wanted breakfast & what we wanted. The selection was good & the veggie breakfast was exellent with Linda Macartney sausages etc
On balance I wd say this should be a B&B not a hotel. The best bit is breakfast & location & the worst bit is the "welcome".WE ate at the hotels restaurant on Eccleshall Rd (? 543)-The food was good & reasonably priced.
