I've stayed at the park inn 3 times in the past month on business. It's in a good location about 10 minutes walk from the city centre, although the area immediately surrounding it isn't sheffields finest.
Check in has always been speedy with no problems. The rooms are fine, tv with limited satelite channels, adequate bathrooms, desk and room service available. The only aspect of the room I didn't like are the electric heaters. They are quite small and don't seem to throw off enough heat to get the room warm on a cold night.
Overall I've enjoyed my stays at this hotel and would stay there again.

I would have thought the hotel is 60s/70s design which is in the process of being modernised. Our room was clean and tidy, with a good quality bathroom. Couldn’t use the bar facilities in the hotel due to a large Christmas party – they didn’t even offer a complimentary drink even after a few hints!

Reasonable location, handy for the tram, though I wouldn’t want to stay for more than a couple of nights as the facilities are a little limited.

We stayed here for one night as we were visiting the Sheffiield Arena it was a lovely hotel and the location was good for visiting the city centre as it was about 5-10 mins walk away. The staff were friendly and local restaurants were lovely. Bedroom was very comfortable, and bathroom was spacious. Would reccommend this hotel to anybody, and would go back there again.

I spent two nights at the Bristol at the end of June while on a business trip to Sheffield. Having read all the recent reviews of the hotel on these pages befoe arrival, I found myself most in agreement with "PenTravis" (Nov 17 2006). For a business traveller who needs no-frills accommodation, this hotel will do adequately. But in no way is it a "Great Hotel" as some reviewers described it. Everything works, but there is nothing fantastic about it. The location is about ten minutes walk from the city centre, which is not bad (incidentally, don't trust a free city map provided in your bedroom). But the hotel stands in a particularly depressing, dilapidated area of the city, probably due for redevelopment. Building work is going on close by, and many of the shops in the vicinity are shut up (including Kebabish restaurant, which "PenTravis" highly recommended), and I had difficulty finding somewhere nice to have my dinner near the hotel. The service varied, but none of the staff was rude. The breakfast buffet was modest and limited, though there was enough food available. All in all, this is a basic, functional hotel for not very demanding travellers.
