Despite some good reviews of this hotel, here is my personal experience. I stayed here after my sister's wedding reception in a nearby hotel (they were fully booked so i chose st pauls...what a mistake!)
Although initially impressed by this modern and smart building, it all went downhill from there. On check-in i was dealt with by probably the most miserable receptionist i've ever met! - never smiled, never made me feel welcome. On getting to my room i was greeted by a used room service tray sat on the floor, probably from the previous night (it was 2.30pm by this point) and cleaning staff still in my room! The room was modern, clean and bright but there were problems. The mini-bar was empty and when i called reception i was told that they were short staffed!! Was i hearing this from a four star hotel?? I left my luggage and went to get a drink i the bar. It was quite busy and again there seemed to be a shortage of staff as only one person was serving! I prepared myself for the wait but after viewing the prices for the drinks (which were Shocking!) i went elsewhere in the city centre.
On returning to the hotel to get showered and changed for the party i was attending, i walked past two hotel staff in the corridor who were discussing (and loudly!) their personal grievences with the hotels management! This is not any standard of proffesionalism, let alone four star!!
My sleep was pleasant enough without too much disturbance and although the hotel is within the city centre, it is peaceful enough. I went down for breakfast in the morning and the dissapointment grew. The service was slow, staff were disorganised, there was a shortage of juice glasses, cutlery was dirty, and the fried eggs were like plastic!! (no joke!)
All in all, this hotel was a big dissapointment, and for the price i paid for the room & breakfast, it was definately not worth the money.
