“Spotless comfort in charming house”

Psalter House

12 Jun 2008

Psalter House is a great b&b in a quiet leafy residential street, but only a stone's throw from a lively, trendy area of Sheffield, with bars, restaurants and boutiquey shops plus good transport links to other parts of the city. Our double room at the top of the house was not exactly spacious, but was very pleasant and pristine. There was nothing missing, the bathroom absolutely gleamed, and we had a very peaceful night's rest on a comfy mattress. Breakfast was exactly what you would hope for - a good choice of cereals and juice, fresh fruit and a tasty cooked full English. Sheila was a relaxed and friendly host. All in all we were very pleased to have picked Psalter House and I have already recommended it to my Sheffield relatives. If you happen to have an hour to spare on a sunny day, don't miss the beautiful Botanical Gardens - 15 mins walk from Psalter House with free entry and an excellent coffee shop/restaurant.

PLEASURE IN A B AND B

What a change from the UKs normal bed and brekky! We cant put into words our superb experience with the owners of this top of the range place to stay. The buses are near for Uni and city centre. we walked it. The trees on the road are a sight to see in autumn. Water and a fridge in the clean rooms and a lovely atmosphere and people who really CARE about their guests. We will be bak;

“Really, reaaly Good”

Psalter House is a gorgeous comfortable b&b which puts others to shame.
Was visiting family at Uni and had looked first at Travel Lodge. So glad I didn't do it. Psalter house was welcoming, warm, immaculately clean and the little extras were lovely. Tea, coffee, hot choc, bottled water and fridge in room along with DVD and TV.
Huge bathroom, and toiletries provided, fantastic breakfast, full english, fruits, yoghurts, cereals etc etc. Hostess was lovely, chatty, knowledgeable about the area.
The accommodation is in walking distance to Eccleshall Road and Sheffield Hallam which is great for families of students.
Highly recommended, I would have loved to have stayed here longer, may in fact come back for a shopping trip before Christmas!

What a shame I didn't find this delightful B&B before my daughter's last week at University! I've stayed in some dreadful places in Sheffield in the last 3 years.

My room was spacious and comfortable, with lovely bed, DVD player (some films available to borrow), TV, separate bathroom with shower and clock-radio (that's the best for me as I love radio and forgot to take one).

Hostess Sheila was very welcoming and friendly.

There as a nice selection of paperbacks in the room and an invitation to take one home - which I did as I hadn't finished it. Sheila replaces them from charity shops, so a good recycling usage.

Breakfast had a very good range of cereals, yogurt, fruit and toast. I didn't try the cooked breakfast. There was no decaff coffee, but perhaps I should have warned them or taken some, as not everyone has it - though most good B&Bs and Hotels do these days.

I parked easily outside in the street, which is a nice residential area, but very near Eccleshall Road with all it's shops, and restaurants.

Highly recommended.
