On the plus side, the staff were friendly, the location was excellent and the breakfast was good. The room however, was unfortunately what we come to expect from some old British hotels - tired and in need of a refurb. Our room had a damp wall, so the wallpaper was peeling off - nice! The bathroom was clean, but very tired and small. Overall, a bit like going back 20 years, and not worth the £130 we paid for it - there must be better value elsewhere - a Premier Inn has better a better quality of room than this.

Pratts Hotel is old, but this should not mean that it can't be updated
sympathetically. The upholstery on some chairs and sofas was so
bad that when you sat on them you could feel the springs. Also the
whole place was'nt very clean, the bedding in our room was'nt clean, and I removed an under blanket before getting into bed as it
was so marked. Its a shame because the Hotel is in a lovely position, not too far from town, and has a nice atmosphere, the staff
were very helpful though and the food o.k , but it does'nt deserve a 3 star rating. It needs closing for a while to be completely refurbished, updated while still keeping the old world atmosphere.

When i entered the hotel i went straight to check in which was a very quick process, i then went up to my room which overall was in good condition but i couldn't get the shower to work properly and the room was a bit small. I ate my evening meal at the hotel which was very nice and the service was excellent. The only down side to the meal was the coarses were a bit small. The breakfast in the mornings are also very nice and there is alot of selection. I would recomend this hotel for everyone looking for a good weekend away.

We stayed for 2 nights on the New Year Break and are now returning next year. The hotel is in the hands of a very capable manager and is being slowly refurbished. The staff are excellent, friendly and approachable, the food during the break was excellent as was the entertainment. Hotels are judged by star rating I would say this is 4 star not 3 for service, atmosphere and food, a number of small touches also make this an enjoyable stay
