This is the second time we have visited The Cliffe Hotel in as many years and it is a pleasure to see that the excellent standards have not faultered in this time.
Our king-size "Garden Room" was very spacious with two comfortable armchairs and a large TV, as well as a spa bath and overhead shower.
The staff are of a high quality, especially Martin (the owner) who is an excellent host in every way.
The hotel had excellent views and fine cuisine, courtesy of the chef, Adrian.
I would recommend this hotel to everyone who needs peaceful luxury in their lives.
Thanks to all for a wonderful experience (yet again!)

Cliffe Hotel lived up to almost every expectation we had. It is somewhat difficult to find, but it is worth the look. It really is situated on a cliff/hillside. It is tucked away in the small town of Limpley Stoke. The hotel manager/owner is very customer oriented and treats his guests as you would a guest to your home. He makes it a point to learn each guest's name and make sure you are comfortable. The pool is clean and kept very warm so even in the English climate, it is worth a swim. There is also a nice outdoor patio and very well kept gardens with a little pond. The rooms are clean, but it is worth the money to upgrade to the suites - four poster beds, a little more romantic and a little more room, the bed in our standard room was not comfortable. Each room has tea, cookies and a bottle of still water as well as spa quality soaps in the bath. Breakfast is usually included in the room rate, and they have dinner meal packages as well. Each meal is preset to your party so you always get "your table" with requested seating and preferred condiments. We found the chicken and fish menus to be superb - but if you're American, the steak is only average. Before your meal you are seated in the lounge where there are magazines, a chess set and you are served appetizers. It is also close to Bath and to Longleat House (each about a 20 minute drive) which you can get info about in the reception area. I really cannot stress the customer service quality! We are already planning a trip back, just to go back to this hotel.

We booked this hotel after reading the above review and were not disappointed. The hotel is in a lovely location with great views. The rooms were spacious and pleasantly decorated with tea/coffee facilities and nice fluffy towels. As already mentioned above we were able to talk to the chef before ordering our meal and like all the staff he was very friendly and helpful. On both days we used the pool which was kept at a lovely warm temperature so was wecoming even though the weather was not great.
We went without our children this time but on request were shown the family rooms and childrens menu which looked very acceptable !

When we arrive there were no other cars in the parking lot. We were a little suspicious to say the least. We walked to the main enterance and into the lobby and greeted by name with the warmest welcome ever! This is the most beautiful location ever!! High on a hill top over looking the Bath and Limply Stoke countryside. A train passes by every so often. No loud train whistles here...just a soft toot and whish of the train. The grounds have lovely flowers, grand trees, chirping birds, a swimming pool, patio with tables and chairs, and a fish pond. This is the worlds smallest Best Western..but don't let that scare you away. Our room was big, bright and very charming with a private bath. Tea and cookies were provided in the room. Mmmmm! When you are ready for dinner, you go to the warm and comfy living room where drinks and before dinner snacks are served. The chef comes and takes your order and then escorts you to the diningroom. Soft music is playing and candles are lit. Dinner is served! WOW!! This is a 7 star, class place!!! The service, food and ambiance is one of a kind. We hated to leave after two days. Great location for hiking trails, horseback riding, and site seeing in the Bath area. Martin, Sheena and their staff are first class all the way!! They make you feel like you are the only guest and they have 11 rooms. Filled most of the time. You will require a reservation to stay at this wonderful hide away!!
