“It's like a sauna”

I stay at the Hilton Bath regularly on business, as my company has a special deal with the chain which ties us in with them. All in all, it is a decent place to stay, however as there is no aircon and the windows can only be opened by about 3 inches, it is like a sauna in summer. I have had quite a few sleepless nights there recently which doesn't help if you have a day crammed with meetings the next day.
The breakfasts are good, however I have had to wait for up to 10 minutes just to be seated (and this is at 7.30am before the tourists come for breakfast), although plenty of tables were vacant. Quite frustrating if you are in a bit of a rush to get to work.
I have only had dinner in the restaurant once, it was very tasty but definately overpriced - you can do much better in town, only about 2 minutes walk away.
Be aware that they now do not have any car parking at the hotel - in the past you were allowed to park in the supermarket carpark at a reduced rate of £9 for the night, this has now stopped and you are fined an additional £25 for staying in that carpark overnight on top of your hourly rate. There are about 20 spaces in a pay and display carpark next door, however this is frequently full and a hangout for some "down and outs", if I had a nice/expensive car I would not leave it there.
Staff do try their hardest here and I really can't fault them, but management need help them by putting more staff on in the restaurant at meal times and making the parking situation a little clearer (there is a tiny note in the lift, that is all). If I could, I would not stay here during the summer months unless you are partial to sleeping in a sauna.

“Would not stay there again!”

Being a Hilton, I was expecting a swimming pool, sauna, steam room etc., When we arrived they had been closed as of the 1st January (I had an out of date brochure).

We arrived for my husband's birthday and I was wanting the 2 days away to be bliss for him - unfortunately we did not find that the hotel achieved this.

The staff were ok, but seemed to lack a knowledge of their procedures.

The location of the hotel is great - but, with all the beautiful old buildings in Bath, this hotel sticks out like a sore thumb!

I would definately not recommend it and would definately not return.

“Absolutely disgusting - HILTON, my backside it is!”

Was bought a weekend package as an anniversary present by the mother in law - lovely thought, shame about the execution.

This is the worst Hilton to bear the name! It starts right from the time you enter the hotel - its just not up to standard, shabby fittings and a finish that leaves a lot to be desired.

The rooms are OK sizewise but with aircon that is mediocre, you need the window open - if you overlook the front bad luck - you'll be opposite a really noisy pub and main road, out the back, the river.

The restaurant is variable - on a set package the menu is dire. The breakfasts are very variable, one morning OK at best, the worst, you'll be rushing to the loo as its way too greasy!

Here's the biggy, for all you drivers - NO FREE CAR PARKING ANYMORE - it ended on the 1st August 2005. The nearest, cheap car park is at least a 10 minute walk, or you can risk a £90 'fine' and park on the double yellows in the drop off zone outside the hotel. Private firm runs it, so be warned.

Avoid - I'm sure there are much better places in Bath, or just outside to stay!

“Excellent Location”

Booked a twin room with the hope of a double. The receptionist informed us that they had no double rooms but we could upgrade for a small charge.

We did upgrade and what a room it was, the bed was huge, the room was spacious and we had an excellent view of the River Avon.

We had breakfast and one evening meal included in our package. The food was great and the staff very helpful and friendly.

I would certainly recommend the Hilton Bath City as a great place to stay.

“Just awful”

Stayed here last summer expected high standard as Hilton brand. Very disappointed room only average and absolutely unbearably hot how I wish Id heeded warnings on this site. Had to have window open (thus noisey) all night with two fans going. I think we were also on top floor. Also I was not happy with the bed mattress I felt it had gone ie springs in my back had it changed but no real difference. Evening meal and breakfast poor. Location the only saving grace. I would think there are much better places to stay than this in Bath which is a spectacular city to visit.
