I stayed at this hotel over the Easter weekend. The room I was
allocated was at the back of the hotel and was comfortable enough, but there was a thick layer of dust clearly visible on the wall beside the headboard. The bathroom was spotless. There was a plasma tv screen, but Channel 5 and CNN were not available as advertised. There was no pen with the stationary in the room. The breakfast buffet was lovely with well known quality brands on offer and the standard of cooked breakfast was average. But it was a lot of money for the standard of room, so
I don't think I would stay there again.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights during which I got somewhere in the region of 30 minutes sleep. Our room - which was tiny, dire and dirty - was at the back of the hotel. The window was broken and couldn't be closed, and the view from it was of air con units and the like, used as a party ground by seagulls right through the night. Staff were unhelpful when I asked for assistance with the shower, which was so stiff we thought it was broken and wouldn't turn on - this was obviously too big a request for the Abbey Hotel, who had to 'go out of their way' to send someone to our room.

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights from a Wednesday to Saturday. Location was excellent and parking was about a 1 minute walk from the hotel and cost £12 per day, the machine takes £ coins or you can pay by card at the machine.

We had room 304 on the top floor and had a good view a little noisy but took earplugs as we do when we stay in any hotel as they are never quiet places. Room was clean and large and decor was good, hairdryer in room and also if you have forgotten any toiletries even down to womens essentials these are free at reception 24 hrs a day.

Breakfast had a good selection including vegetarian and was quickly served. Staff were very helpful and polite.

Overall it was a very good hotel and reasonably prices booking through their own website which was cheaper than any other at £284 for the 3 night B & B.

“Distinctly unimpressed”

Best Western Abbey Hotel

This hotel is situated right in the centre of Bath, which is a bonus. The greeting by the staff was at best unimpressive, at worst just rude. I had to wait whilst the receptionist finished her conversation with her colleague (about some poor chap who was apparently a poor performer) before she could check me in. However, one other staff member was very helpful with directions.
The front door was locked after ten and the night porter took over five minutes to let guests in. Not great, especially as it was freezing cold. The shower did not work.

“Fab Position”

Best Western Abbey Hotel

3 Feb 2008

Have just returned from The Abbey Hotel with a friend we had a mixed time. The position could not have been beaten. Close to everything and also great to go out in the evening. On arrival we were greeted with an OK response by the Receptionist. This same Recepionist we later overheard on two occasions in a very loud voice bad mouthing other members of staff! When we took the lift to our room we were met with a notice which contained numerous grammatical errors. We amended and the next time took the lift this had been replaced with the correct spellings and grammar!! Our room was too warm so had to have the windows opened. I went to have a shower at 6.00pm and the water came slowly and very cold. We rang down to Reception and were told that if we did choose to have our shower at peak time this would happen but they would send someone up. We are still waiting!!
We did have a great time the position was fab and we would recommend it. They just need to work on front of house and customer service!
