Just returned from a 2 night break at the Landsdown Grove Hotel, good value for money.
Restaurant was nice, food really good, staff very pleasant.
The hotel (apart from restaurant) is badly in need of refurbishment, but there again we probably wouldn't have got it for such a agood price. It's little things like door handles falling off wardrobes, paintwork in desperate need of some new paint.
I liked Bath, loved the Roam baths, town nice, different shops from home, plenty of places to eat if we had needed to find somewhre. The hotel is on a hill but we got the bus so no problem there. Frank on reception was extremely helpful. Fantastic guy plays the piano Friday/Saturday evening in the bar, nice background music can still sit and chat.

We booked on a 'last minute' deal with criteria that the hotel must have a car park, located within easy reach of the M4 without having to enter the impossible narrow streets and one way systems of Bath centre (I would suggest checking directions on several booking agency sites as some are better than others), and within easy walking distance of the town centre. This hotel hit all the marks with the added bonus being the quality of the hotel itself. Very clean, comfortable with a relaxed 'feel' to it, and friendly professional staff - it far exceeded our expectations. The hotel is built into the side of a hill which meant that although the small lift worked okay, there are stairs and steps in the corridors that must be negotiated. Less mobile visitors should check the availability of suitable rooms. Our 'Ambassador' room was large, comfortable, clean and everything worked. This applies also to the bath room. Our rear facing 2nd floor room had a rather nice outside patio/garden area although the front facing rooms will have the views. The walk to the centre was an easy 15 minutes although the walk back was a bit of a challenge to the cardio vascular system - we felt very fit by the of our stay! The bus stop is just outside the hotel and there was a timetable in the room hotel information pack. Breakfast was good and no complaints there. We did not eat at the hotel during the rest of the day - the restaurants in Bath are something else and thoroughly recommended - so cannot comment on the hotel food. Good bar and relaxing lounge area. Bath itself is beige but well worth the visit. We reckon it will take 4 full days to see everything but the first thing to do in Bath must be to take the free (yes 'free' - no charge and tipping is not allowed) guided tour - a 2 hour walk around the main points of interest with the guides providing a first rate talk on Bath history and how it was founded.

Had 5 days with Shearings holidays, we paid extra for a room with a view was worth it, a large room with twin beds, sofa and chairs, only let down was a badly stained carpet, clean bathroom, food good , and staff helpfull and friendly. Bath is a nice place; some building work near the station but will not spoil a visit as it is away form the attractions. the hotel is on a steep hill, easy to walk down in about 15min, but come back on the bus. stops outside the hotel,

Stayed here for the first time. I thought the hotel was much better than I thought it might be. Food was good but went into Bath most of the time - some cracking places to eat! Will be back again as the wife loved it! Quite good price to stay as well!
