“The best Family accommodation we have ever had”

I must say I cannot understand why there has been a complaint about the family room. We are a family of 4 (incl 2 strapping teenagers!) and we had a lovely family room at Cranleigh - we were very comfortable.

The size of the room was big - the biggest b&b room we had ever had. Not only could it sleep all four of us but it also have a lovely window seating area with a sofa, chair and coffee table.

The beds were comfy - apparently the singles are 2" short and 2" narrower that a full size single because they are designed to be stored under the massive super king bed in the room. - they are definitely not camp beds and more than adequate for a short stay.

Our room was on the 2nd floor - (just be aware there is no lift) . It faced the back of the house and the views were lovely. We sat on the sofa drinking our wine and looking out over the peaceful hills.

The room was very clean - the dvd's a bonus (we had lots of rain). On the whole a great stay - we will be back.

“Lovely small hotel”

Cranleigh is a positively charming small hotel in an excellent location which is close (within walking distance) to the city but removed from the traffic and noise . We had a beautiful ground floor room with a king bed and small sitting area with a great view of the city below. Spotlessly clean and the best breakfasts of our trip. No detail was overlooked. The proprietors could not have been more helpful or accommodating giving us a tip on a visit to Lacock which was one of our trip highlights.

We thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay in the spacious, clean, tastefully decorated room! With a beautiful view over Bath and very quiet but close to the city, we slept well and enjoyed a delicious breakfast in the delightful Breakfast room downstairs. Our hosts take obvious pride in providing extremely comfortable accomodation...we unfortunately could only stay one night, but would love to return one day!

“World's most uncomfortable bed”

After reading all about Cranleigh, I was very much looking forward to my stay but I was greatly disappointed when I arrived.

On entering my room, which was sold on a triple basis, I found that the third "bed" we had to pay extra for was, in actual fact, a camp bed and not a single bed as advised.
The camp bed was too small for me (and I'm only petite), squeaked horrendously at every movement, the legs collapsed when I moved and springs stuck out all over the place.
It was so uncomfortable I failed to get a decent rest.

When I expressed my discomfort and recommended that the bed should not be used again, because it was so uncomfortable, the owner seemed unable to deal with a complaint. I was offered an apology but that was it.

I can't believe paying extra for such a bed is acceptable and it was not at all suitable for an adult, despite being told it would be.

On a more positive note, breakfast was enjoyable.

Enjoyed our stay at Cranleigh. Took a nice bath in the clawfoot tub, enjoyed a dvd with some tea and cookies in our room. Room was clean, comfortable, quiet and modern. Breakfast was very nice as well.
