“Confortable, relaxing stay”

I wholeheartedly agree with previous postings. This B&B is very comfortable, clean and welcoming. The hot tub is a great extra, situated in an enclosure in the garden with summer house and minibar. Breakfast was very nice and hosts were very friendly and helpful.

Only drawback being that it takes 30 mins to walk into the centre of Bath. This is an OK walk if you intend to stay out all day but could get a bit wearisome if you like to pop back to your B&B throughout the day. There is a park and ride stop within a 5-10 mins walk from the B&B costing £2.20 return which may be a good option or a cab costs approx. £6.

We spent 2 nights at the Cranleigh and were very pleased with the accommodations and quality of service. What you can expect : spacious and attractive rooms, friendly and attentive service, great breakfast experience. The B & B is about a mile from town, so you can either use the park and drive , take a bus or take a cab into town. The Cranleigh has three 3rd floor rooms, which is a bit of a climb - so it's worthwhile clarifying your preference for a 2nd floor room prior to arrival if stairs are a problem . Two rooms had problems with hot water while we were there - also worthwhile asking owners about . The owners recommended the Globe pub/restaurant to us during our stay and we highly recommend it - great quality food, non smoking environment and pleasant staff.

I booked a double room for 1 night through the online booking of Visit Bath. Upon receipt of confirmation, I then emailed Cranleigh which I quote:

"Below is a confirmation of our reservation with your accommodation that I received from Visit Bath where I made an online booking.

"I emailed to inform you that we will be coming with our 10-month old baby as this was not asked when I filled up the online booking form but the confirmation email below showed information about Number of Child. Can you please confirm if there would be an extra charge if we bring in a travel cot for our baby?

"May I also know your check-in and check-out times since I can't find them from your website?

"Thank you and best regards."

In response, Denise Potter sent me a this email:

"Thank you for e-mail below.

"The reason you did not have the option to add your baby was that you did not select a family room. For the date you require all our family rooms are reserved.

"The room you have reserved is a standard double room and we do not allow more than two people in these - that is why you did not get the option to add your baby.

"I'm sorry but we cannot accept your reservation and you must now contact Visit Bath to re your booking on. 0870 420 1278. They will also be able to help you find accommodation for your family.

"Regards."

I then rang up Visit Bath to inform them about my situation and asked them if they can refund the 10% deposit I paid through debit card. They told me to phone Cranleigh first and ask if it's possible for them to just allow our baby to sleep with us on our bed. So I did rang Cranleigh and was able to speak with Denise.

She said that actually it's their policy not to accept booking those with children below 5 yrs. old. I answered that such policy is not shown on their website as well as Visit Bath's when I made the online booking so that I could have avoided this trouble of booking with them. I additionally mentioned that in other B&Bs and hotels I've been into, infants can be accommodated with their parents in a double room at no extra charge. I also know that almost all tourist attractions that accept small children don't charge entrance fees for children below 2 yrs. old.

Anyway, that's beside the point and I wrote this review to say that Cranleigh should make sure that its policy of not allowing children under 5 yrs. old is clearly shown on their website to avoid problems like what I had with them.

We stayed at this lovely B+B for a long weekend, to celebrate my birthday. This is a B+B which could easily be mistaken for a hotel, way above average for what we expected to find for a B+B. We stayed on the first floor in a four poster bedroom, which had lovely views to the back of the garden and avon valley. Breakfast was absolutley delicious, you could smell the freshly baked croissants every morning. I recommend trying the pancakes with maple syrup and strawberries, delicious.
On sunday we booked the hot tub which is located in the garden, next to it you'll find a summerhouse with a minibar, very useful, and we had a great time in the hot tub!
Cranleigh is situated on top of Newbridge hill, which makes for lovely views, and don't forget to have a sunday roast at the riverside pub The Boathouse, which is in walking distance. the Owners will be happy to let you know directions, as they are very friendly indeed. Bath is a lovely town and the surrounding countryside is stunning, all in all we had a lovely weekend in bath and this B+B, and a well needed break from London. We''l be back asap.

We spent two lovely nights at Cranleigh during a 10 day trip to the UK. The rooms are beautifully elegant with high ceilings, special details along with terrific furniture. Bathrooms are also lovely. Breakfast was delicious and the hosts are helpful but not at all intrusive. They are also testing email access for guests on the computer in the reception area. We didn't try the hot tub but I am sure it would have been great. The house is beautiful on the outside and our bay window looked out over the city. This is as advertised - I don't have any hesitation encouraging to book Cranleigh.
