“Great little hostel”

I stayed for one night during Easter this year. The hostel was clean, bright and quiet.

Great location tucked off the main streets in a sunny courtyard. Many rooms look out onto this.

We stayed in a twin room. The beds were quite narrow but adequate. The matresses could use updating though. Ours were both quite soft, lumpy and you could feel the springs.

The bathrooms were clean but getting on a bit. But no worse than any other hostel and probably quite a bit better than most.

The reception and dining areas were bright and newly renovated.

Breakfast is included and while the toast and cereal is nothing flash, its free so great value.

Staff were helpful and offered to store our luggage for free for an afternoon.

Overall a great little hostel and I'd stay again no worries.

“Great value, clean place”

I've stayed in many hostels over the years. This was clean and conveniently located. The front desk staff was helpful.

Since we had a rental car, we found it especially convenient to a nearby parking lot (across the street).

My husband and I would stay there again if we couldn't afford a hotel.

I was a little worried about staying in a hostel for the first time but after my experience at the YMCA I would definately stay here again. great price for the area, walking distance to bus station, roman baths, abby, everything... AND I was able to do some laundry there! :) The bathrooms and rooms were clean but don't expect anything fancy. Awesome for budget travelers.

“OK, great budget option”

YMCA

Stayed only 1 night in a single room, fairly quiet. Room was quite large, plain, clean, large window. Shared bath was clean, experienced no waiting. About a 10-15 minute walk from station, tucked back behind some buildings, not too difficult to find; located about equidistant from Crescent (and nearby sights) and Abbey/Baths, which is a plus. Marginal breakfast, but can pay for extras.

“Good place, great price”

YMCA

10 Jun 2006

We stayed at the Bath YMCA for two nights in a private room for only 32 pounds a night. An unbelievable price for a private room for two in England. The room was definitely simple, with two twin beds, a closet, and a sink. There was plenty of room for us and our luggage, and everything was clean. Bathrooms were down the hall - clean enough but I was surprised that they were co-ed. All showers and toilets were within stalls and there was rarely anyone in there, but it was still just a little disconcerting. The laundry facilities were very convenient and the continental breakfast that is included with the room was quite generous and filling. The location is great and there is a lovely Waitrose grocery store just a couple of blocks away. Staff are extremely helpful and the international clientele makes for interesting people watching. Not a party hostel, more of an inexpensive almost hotel. I would definitely stay there again and I would recommend this to anyone - couples, singles, families - who are looking for an affordable place to stay in Bath.
