We are not usually B&B guests, but Chestnuts was a good compromise for us. We did not feel as if we were intruding in someone's home, since the owners do not live there. Just about everything at this home was excellent. The location is on a quiet street a block away from a park, yet close enough to walk to the center of town. The room was clean and large with a spacious bathroom, including plenty of hot water and great water pressure. The best thing about the stay though was the amazing breakfast spread: coffee from a press, fresh fruit, crepes, cereal, danish and croissants, and the cooked to order main course. Furthermore, Toni and the staff were very nice and hospitable. Toni was generous with his good advice, and made our arrangements with Mad Max Tours to Stonehenge. He even made us breakfast early to accommodate our early pickup!

Stayed here for 4 nights in April. Chose Chestnuts house after reading all the good reviews on Tripadvisor. We normally stay in hotels but here was better than many 4 star hotels.
Our room was very spacious and well equipped. It was decorated in pale colours and eqiuipped with modern light oak furniture. There was lots of attention to detail. The whole house was filled with light with plenty of space .
We were made very welcome by Toni and his staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Toni had lots of suggestions about where to go and what to do. Very good with directions and lending us maps.
We breakfasted in a very sunny room. There was an extensive menu. Toni was quite happy to swop around things on the menu to give you exactly what you wanted. We have never had such a wide variety of fruit in the fresh fruit salad.
We parked on the drive whilst we were there. If there is no space a parking permit is available to park on the quiet road outside.
It is a flat, pleasant walk to the centre of Bath. About 5 minutes walk brings you to Pulteney Bridge which is filled with shops. (like Ponte Vecchio in Florence). You don't realise you are crossing the river. This is the start of the town centre.
Chestnuts house is next to a park. It is lovely to stroll through the park as you are heading for the town centre. In the corner there is a sensory garden for the blind.
Bath has lots to offer visitors and Chestnuts house is an ideal place to stay. A real home from home

“Home from Home”

Chestnuts House

9 May 2008

My wife and i have been happily married for 9 year's, so, when the magazine, E-Motion, a free magazine given out by South Western Train's, featured Bath as great get away, i took the hint, and looked it up, finding somewhere to stay, was'nt hard, after all, there were many to choose from, however, somewhere a little different, close to town, shopping, local features, etc...
Well, we looked on the internet, and low and behold, The Chestnut, looked at the web site, thought, yer, that seem's good, it's our anniversary, it's St George's Day (23rd April), let's give it a go. We could never have been so right. We was welcomed, whole heartedly by Toni, he made us feel so "at Home", that i thought i was. The room was clean, tidy, eco-friendly,comfortable & , if you don't mind the ease of my gesture, " Abso- blooming- lutely-lovely", be prepared to be surprised, Bath has more to offer than just outstanding beauty, in every sense, it has a guest house, that should, in our opinion, carry a FIVE STAR, however, popularity, can sometime's spoil a place!.........So i suggest you, who ever you are, stay else where!!... Oh Go On ,.. Please!!!

We spent 3 nights at Chestnuts after reading tripadvisor reviews and were very happy we had made the decision to stay. It definitely lived up to the high expectations we had before arriving and the breakfasts were wonderful, as had been mentioned many times! Toni was a great host and made us feel very welcome. Great location too as we completely abandoned the car in the drive for the 3 days we were there - only exploring Bath city though. You must do the Bizarre Bath comedy walk if you get the chance, very funny and worth the £8! Would definitely recommend Chestnuts if you are looking for a high standard B&B.
