We booked a SACO apartment for a Bank Holiday weekend over two nights. We parked in the long-stay car park just round the corner in Avon Street and easily found the apartments, set behind a gorgeous sandstone facade.
Inside, it has all been knocked down and rebuilt into modern well-equipped apartments.
Some travellers on here seem to have missed the point of servicied apartments - they are aimed at longer stays for businesspeople and people between homes, so are cleaned once a week not daily. We felt this was the same as at home and were happy to have the same towels for the three days.
The same applies to the comments about washing-up liquid - these are self-catering apartments and you are supposed to supply your own things but the wecome pack of croissants, biscuits, milk, orange juice, cornflakes and bottled water was a lovely touch.
There is enough coffee and tea to last you for three days if you only have one in the morning like we did.
The apartment we were in (number 10) was on the ground floor on the side so there was no traffic noise althought the pub the other side of the square had a band in one night which was quite noisy.
We had a king-size bed, TV and large full-length mirror in the bedroom as well as a decent hairdryer.
The bathroom had complimentary Molton Brown goodies and a good shower.
The lounge had a TV, CD player, dining table and kitchenette which itself had a washing machine and dishwasher, cooker and hob.
The only gripe was that the cable TV was split between the apartments so when a number of people were trying to watch it the signal was fragmented which did get annoying.
We loved the SACO apartments and will definitely go back, as well as seek them out in other countries round the world. They are the perfect mix of hotel and self-catering.
