We stayed 3 nights in this gorgeous B&B during May/June. The house is glorious, high ceilings and amazing art. The owners were very gracious and welcoming without being at all intrusive - we had keys to come and go.
Breakfast to die for! Thick bacon, homemade bread/jam and eggs from the hens in the garden.
We stayed on the top floor which has a large double room, huge bathroom with lux shower and a second smaller children's bedroom. Ideal for a small family, was nice to be able to close the children's door when they went to bed (often find in a hotel we are all in the same room and have to go to be at 8pm!). It's worth pointing out the bathroom is accessed through the children's room - though ours were so tired after days on the beach it wasn't really a problem.
House is on a private road and very peaceful - we woke up to birdsong each morning. Around an 8 min walk into town - nice to be able to walk for dinner or fish and chips on the beach without needing the car. Tennis courts and great children's playground down a country path across the road. All very lush, green and pretty.
Highly recommend, 3 nights here felt like a real treat and at a really reasonable rate.
- Also Known As:
- Dunan House Aldeburgh, Suffolk
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- Dunan House is in the quiet part of the beautiful seaside town of Aldeburgh; looking out over the marshes to the river and beyond. The house is slightly grand, set back from the road in the centre of a large garden with many mature trees. You hardly feel you are in the town and yet the high street, shops, pubs, restaurants, cinema and the beach are all within a 10 minute walk. Inside, the rooms are spacious and comfortable. There is interesting art and craft throughout the house. Breakfast is pretty good too and includes fresh eggs from the Dunan House hens. ... more less
