We chose Drinkstone on the basis of its location and the reviews received on Tripadvisor.
All the reviews are spot on! The location in the heart of rural Suffolk is perfect for sightseeing. Bury St Edmunds, Lavenham, the Suffolk coast with Aldeburgh and Southwold are all within easy reach.
We spent 3 nights in the Blue Room, which was well appointed with lots of special touches, such as bottled water in the room, luxurious toiletries, good quality linen and towels and a good shower. There was a selection of books in the room and even a torch in case of power cuts!
The breakfasts were quite outstanding. Some highlights for me were rhubarb compote, home-made lemon curd and raspberry jam and eggs from the hens in the garden. In fact most of the produce is home-made or produced locally.
Christine and Michael are excellent hosts and very welcoming. We were fortunate to have fantastic weather and so could take advantage of the beautiful garden where we had tea and scones every evening.
Overall a really relaxing lovely place to stay.
