We stayed at the White Horse for one night in June. We used the hotel as a base to go to a wedding in Leatherhead.
The hotel was once part of the MacDonald Group and now forms part of the Mercure chain.
We booked this hotel over the net and didnt really do any research. It was all a bit last minute.
Upon arrival we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel is like a large country pub and we were pleased to see a good sized car park.
Check-In was both friendly and efficient. They appeared to be expecting us and also advised that they had already arranged a taxi to take us to the wedding venue.
We were advised that we were in the garden rooms, which upon arrival looked like a block of flats at the back of the hotel. The entrance and stairs didnt look very inviting but when we opened the door to our rooms we were impressed.
The room was decorated in the same style as many of the MacDonald hotels. It looked like it had been recently modernised. Rooms contained iron/ironing board. Hairdryer and Tea and Coffee making facilities.
The bar is open 24 hours which was rather nice as we all fancied a night cap when we returned from the wedding.
Breakfast was lovely and there was a good choice of cereals, fruit, pastries and then cooked breakfast prepared to order.
The service again was efficient and friendly.
We didnt eat evening meal at the hotel so cannot comment on this. However one of our party stayed for Sunday lunch and again thought it was wonderful.
We have nothing bad to say about our stay at the White Horse and would definatly recommend it as a base for a short break again.
PS: Where in Dorking serves food all day????
