We have just enjoyed a wonderful 2 night break at the holiday inn Guildford. The evening meal on our first night was delicious, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the breakfasts were also excellent. be very careful when finding the hotel, follow the signs to the research park.do not go onto the A3 as you will be heading to London(THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED TO US). Getting into Guildford was very easy by bus just £1.60 return. We had a lovely meal in Guildford on Saturday evening at The White House

Having stayed in a number of Holiday Inns, I would say that this one is above average. The decor as with so many is a little dated but the rooms are clean, of a good size and the staff are polite and helpful. The leisure facilities are above average (pool, steam room, gym, sauna etc)and again the staff helpful and efficient. We did not have an evening meal but the sandwiches in the bar were unimaginative and expensive.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Guildford 5 - 7 May, 2007. We booked it over the internet. We were very impressed. Our room was really nice. Plenty of towels, packed mini-bar (although we didn't use it). We ate dinner on the first night in the restaurant. Although it was quite expensive, the food was very good, except for my meal. I had rack of ribs, with rice, corn, mushrooms, tomato & onion rings. The ribs had no meat whatsoever on them (very spare ribs!). However, the rest of the food on my plate was excellent. I did complain and the duty manager came to speak to me immediately. He sincerely apologised and refunded the total cost of my meal. Which was very good of him, as I would have been happy just to be refunded part of it. He also insisted we have free drinks, anything we wanted, and these were delivered to our room within about 5 minutes. The breakfast is excellent. Lots of choice, continental and traditional english breakfast. Beware the toaster! The toast had to go through it about 4 or 5 times to get browned! And that's only one side! Overall a very good quality hotel, very good food and service. We would go again.

We stayed for two nights at Easter when visiting family in Guildford. The outside looked very plain and Travelodge-esque, but as soon as we stepped inside we were pleased with what we saw. The decor in the lobby is the standard dark wood, red, gold and green furnishings that were popular with 4 and 5 star hotels over the last few years...I believe they are getting refurbished soon (no doubt white with shades of brown...very now). It certainly felt more luxurious than the exterior suggested.
Check-in was swift although the girl was a little aloof and she did not ask if we needed help with our luggage. Our room was massive!! (no.346..worth asking for) I don't think all the rooms were this big...we just got lucky as ours was on the end of a corridor and was just above the health suite. Our room had a corridor that we had to go through to get to the main room which had room for three king sized beds easily. The bathroom was huge too. It was excellent considering we were only paying £77 per night + breakfast. (Book online with hotel...you get cheaper deal)
The bed was really comfy and the room was immaculate. The furnishings were all dark oak, a little dated, but nice all the same. The bathroom was white, the only down side was the grouting on the floor was a little grey. (I have a thing about lovely white grouting!)
Breakfast was wonderful and really worth having. There was a really good choice of hot and cold foods and they went out of their way to make decaff coffee and tea for us.
We plan to stay here when we come to Guildford again. Reasonably priced and very comfortable!
