Hotel was okay, but it does not deserve five stars or £150 a night. Inital impression of room (Sir Francis Drake) was favourable. Closer look showed that "view" was into the side of a pitched tiled roof, one window looked onto a small flat area into which rainwater drained that was full of cigarette butts, there was a three inch hole in the bedspread and the canopy was held up by the sort of supports that you use for cheap self-assembly book-shelves.
Having said that, we appreciated the bottles of mineral water, huge comfy bed, lovely big bath and shower and big fluffy bathrobes and towels. Also the staff were friendly. The central location is great, but you cannot park near the hotel - we were only staying one night and were pre-warned so we had minimal luggage and parked on outskirts of Guildford, but this would be a problem for a longer stay/more luggage. But at £150 a night, I would not have a long stay there - it's not worth the money.
