“Not worth the money”

Hotel was okay, but it does not deserve five stars or £150 a night. Inital impression of room (Sir Francis Drake) was favourable. Closer look showed that "view" was into the side of a pitched tiled roof, one window looked onto a small flat area into which rainwater drained that was full of cigarette butts, there was a three inch hole in the bedspread and the canopy was held up by the sort of supports that you use for cheap self-assembly book-shelves.
Having said that, we appreciated the bottles of mineral water, huge comfy bed, lovely big bath and shower and big fluffy bathrobes and towels. Also the staff were friendly. The central location is great, but you cannot park near the hotel - we were only staying one night and were pre-warned so we had minimal luggage and parked on outskirts of Guildford, but this would be a problem for a longer stay/more luggage. But at £150 a night, I would not have a long stay there - it's not worth the money.

We stayed here on our wedding night and were given an extremely warm welcome and great service.
The hotel is beautiful, the bathroom was enormous and the bedroom superb.
Couldn't have asked for more on our wedding night, a wonderful end to a memorable day..........thank you!

“Rubbish Hotel”

This place is simply rubbish. I stayed there on my wedding night and not only did the room stink of egg (and we couldn't transfer because they allegedly had no rooms left) but when we got our breakfast all the spreads had already been opened and used (gross). The rooms are tatty, the bathroom crumbly and the manager is complete waste of time. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and the sooner someone takes over this hotel and sorts it out the better. There used to be a crypt restaurant service wonderful food but even that's been closed. What's even more unbelievable is that is is part of the 'Small Luxury Hotels of the World' chain......as if. The SLH need to review that one.

“Overpriced”

£150 for what was described as a 'deluxe double room'. (Upon arrival we realised that was their most basic room.) A small double bed in a room that was poorly decorated and had a view of a brick wall. Breakfast would have been an extra £13.50, which is staggering. No car park either, which meant leaving my car in a long-stay car park nearby. The bathroom was nice but the shower took forever to warm up.

“High Prices, Low Services”

What an overpriced, run-down, dysfunctional place. A staff that couldn't care less, forgets guest requests, loses confirmed reservations; a manager who's never around when guests need him, is more interested in intimidating the staff than pleasing guests, etc.

Not to mention the total absence of "modcons". Freezing cold in the winter, like a Turkish bath in the summer.

At half the going price, I might consider coming back. Maybe
