My first trip to the UK on business and I was referred to hotel by work colleague, didn't realize he disliked me. The hotel was rated as three star but even by lax North American standards it would have trouble with one. The first room I was given I jokingly referred to as the dungeon was sub ground level and the view from my window was the underside of parked cars. It also had a very strong basement-musty smell. My second room was on the second floor right above the "disco" and was the size of a large bathroom. One double bed, 13" TV small desk and bathroom with small shower stall. Both weekends and one weeknight the noise was unbearable until past 02:00. The furniture was below standard as was the service and overall experience. This would have been an acceptable room for $75.00 instead of $225.00 per night. The only redeeming quality was its close proximity to High Street and the train station.

I recently stayed at the Mandolay and was unfortuante to take ill whilst staying with them.
I required a Doctor and not only did they inform me that "we can't get you a Doctor" they then called my room back and said "we'll just have to get you an ambulance"......hmm, not very caring!
I managed to sort myself out with a very helpful local Doctors but required assistance getting home - the Dr called the hotel to ask if someone could pop round and pick me up (a 4 minute walk from the front door of the hotel!) to be told "we can send a taxi if you want"......how caring!
Once back at the hotel, I called reception to ask if some water etc could be sent to my room......"we don't do room service on a Saturday" came the reply.
AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS - THEY DON'T KNOW THE MEANING OF BASIC HUMAN KINDNESS LET ALONE CUSTOMER SERVICE!

I booked this hotel to stay the night after getting married. I was told that £100 would get me a top rate room with breakfast. Actually it got me what I'd consider an average room and my wife and I were refused entry to breakfast as they said my rate didn't include breakfast!

I complained to the reception and they denied that I had been offered a deal with breakfast - they did offer us breakfast but by that time we had to leave. When I looked at the website prices - my room is shown as being only £90!

I complained in writing to the hotel manager but did not even get a response. I'm absolutely shocked how I can write a complaint and not even get a response to it.

Don't stay at this hotel.

We booked in as a last minute thing. The price was very expensive and the room itself small with a not very comfortable bed. The bathroom wasn't very good either.

The breakfast tasted great (except for the coffee), but my wife and I were both very sick afterwards. I rang to tell the management, who weren't that interested.

Never again.
