Myself and my partner stayed on a Sunday night mid Sept and would definately stay here again. The hotel has a car park on site but is also an easy 10 min walk to the train station. We had a double room on the 3rd floor which was a bit of a walk from the lift with a heavy bag but was very clean & quiet.

We also had the hotel breakfast which was a good selection of cooked food , toast & cereals but only because work were paying. At £7.50 this was a liitle expensive.

We booked a family room at this hotel for 1 week over Easter.
The double bed was too soft for my husband and me, so we give that to our 2 daughters and we took the put me up and the sofa bed and we all slept quite well for the whole week.
Although the trains ran directly at the back of our window, the noise was not bad as the double glazing did its job.
Rooms got cleaned every day.
The only problem we had was the guests in the room above us let their children use the beds for jumping on and off but a quick word with reception and this stopped.
The hotel does have a Bar Cafe and if only staying for 1 or 2 nights its not too bad but satying any longer and the menu gets a little limited.
We only paid £26 per night and it made a good base to explore Chessington, Thorpe park and London.
We walked along the river bank to the railway station which was lovely and peaceful, and about 15min walk.
Train time to London was 30mins to Waterloo, cost £32 for 2 adults and 2 children but for £42 you could buy tickets that included all travel in London (tube, bus and docklands light rail).

I had booked a family room as although there were only 2 of us it was my teenage daughter with whom I was travelling. Despite this only the double bed was made up and we had to go to reception to get the extra bedding needed. It was not brought to us and we had to make up the other bed ourselves.
There was no soap in the room and we had to get this from reception as well. In doing so we noted that apparently Travelodge will not now provide shampoo/swoere gel etc in the room. This is on the basis that most people use their own- fair enough probably if staying longer than a night or two but not if the visit is for one night only particularly if before flying in these days of no liquids in hand baggage.
In the restaurant 3 items on the menu were not available and one of the red wines from a very limited choice was also not available. Clearly someone had not got their ordering right.
Breakfast in the morning was poor. Everything soggy under heat lamps and just not worth the money.
No pictures on the wall of the bedroom made it seem very spartan and the TV was a cheap portable with a very poor picture.
Also there was no way of setting or getting an alarm call - so bring your own alarm clock!
The place was clean enough and reception was friendly and efficient but there was an overall impression that cost cutting had gone too far particularly when compared with the prices charged.

I have just took advantage of the £15 offer and the slamming reception door is still a problem. To avoid this stay on any floor other then the one where the reception is. Pluses were-good full breakfast and reasonable at £7.50 and free parking. Minuses were-no bath towel and tv remote but were soon replaced when reported.

“Too many cuts, except in rate”

I was aware of the Travelodge's advertising of not paying for items you don't need, and I generally agree, however, they have taken the concept too far, and the rate of 55 pounds a night is not much lower than a Holiday Inn in the same area. My biggest complaint is that I like to make telephone calls from my room using a prepaid calling card. I have been able to use these cards in hotels all over the world, except here. This property has what amounts to a pay phone in the room. You must swipe a credit card to receive a dial tone. If you want to use a calling card, you will also be charged a per minute
fee to your credit card, so it's best to just use your credit card here. The bed linens are flimsy and cheap. The mattress pad looks like it's disposable, and constantly comes off the mattress during the night, exposing the bare mattress, which isn't something you don't want to see when staying in any hotel. I would pay a few pounds
more next time, and stay in a Holiday Inn.
