We stayed here last Sunday having got an excellent rate of £15 for a family room through the hotel website. This was our second visit to this hotel the first being over a year ago. I agree with all previous comments, there are no frills here but it is beautifully clean, very comfortable and despite being next to the railway and a busy road amazingly quiet. If you want to eat breakfast here it is good but a bit pricey, if you have a car you can get breakfast for a lot less at Tesco about a mile up the road.

“New hotel in a convenient location”

A convenience location with pleasant rooms.

The Travelodge is not straight forward to find but has ample free parking on the ground floor. Staff are helpful as are the lifts. It looks relatively new or recently redecorated but can be something of a maze once inside. It is a short 15 minute walk to the centre of Guildford passing the railway station along the way.

Rooms are cozy, regular Travelodge rooms with little more than the bare essentials – bed, bathroom, closet, TV, telephone. The TV has the 5 expected channels and though Internet is available there is no wireless or even wired, only dialup. Coffee and tea making facilities are included in the room.

This was our best stay in a Travelodge and would recommend this location. Our experience elsewhere, however, has not been to the same standards.

If you want a top class hotel, with leisure club, room service and all those little extras go elsewhere but expect to pay many times the £15 I paid for this hotel. It is not as listed below by other reviewers. It is clean and the tvs do work. Yes there is no shower gel but I have raised this with travelodge, maybe they will listen if we all tell them!
I was worried when I read the reviews after I had booked the room. However I got there at 2030 and checked in within 3 minutes. Straight to room via lift. Quite long corridors, with yes FIRE doors. Yes they bang but would you rather burn to death in a fire??
Room is normal size for travelodge and even with all beds pulled out there is still room to move. It is basic but has tea coffee etc and two towels. I had to ask for another pillow and it was provide promptly. Also witnessed other people asking for other things, all provided. If you need more things just ask!!
Breakfast at £7.50 a person istn't bad. Made all the better if you have kids because they eat free!! Four of us for £15!!
Good for families. If a business traveller probably could buy better things on your business account, unless you are fiddling things and collecting the difference!

stayed here for the second december in a row. paid £15 on travelodge website. excellent value. cannot understand any of the previous contributors problems. if you want a gourmet meal you don't eat at mcdonalds!! yes there is a busy road outside, thats why they're in convenient places ,and yes there is a railway outside one side of the hotel as is the case in some top london hotels. i have always found travelodges to be clean, warm and good value ,especially if booked in advance on their own website.

“Nasty modern motel concept leaves bad taste”

Stayed here last weekend... Must concur with our friend from Vancouver below on all his points made. This is one of the worst places ever. From check-in to departure it was poor. Noisy, spring sticking through beds, nothing nearby, door slamming and a bizarre approach to guest relations (ie. fill in a card when you leave). Staff were young, inexperienced and poorly managed. No buzz or sparkle to anything. This is a hotel concept designed by banks/profiteers that bears no relation to customer demands/expectations.

It could have been acceptable (perhaps) if we had paid the £10 price mentioned in a review below but we paid £60* excluding breakfast - for which you can get a very good B&B or discounted rooms in a proper 4-star hotel nearby.

If this is representative of Travelodge offerings (ie. overpriced backpacking hostel) then you would get a more restful night sleeping in your car!

PS> Keep away from the breakfast - the eggs are from a powder source and goodness only knows what they put in the sausages. Hence the bad taste...

(BTW it's worth complaining as I got £30 back without a fight)
