I had booked a family room as although there were only 2 of us it was my teenage daughter with whom I was travelling. Despite this only the double bed was made up and we had to go to reception to get the extra bedding needed. It was not brought to us and we had to make up the other bed ourselves.
There was no soap in the room and we had to get this from reception as well. In doing so we noted that apparently Travelodge will not now provide shampoo/swoere gel etc in the room. This is on the basis that most people use their own- fair enough probably if staying longer than a night or two but not if the visit is for one night only particularly if before flying in these days of no liquids in hand baggage.
In the restaurant 3 items on the menu were not available and one of the red wines from a very limited choice was also not available. Clearly someone had not got their ordering right.
Breakfast in the morning was poor. Everything soggy under heat lamps and just not worth the money.
No pictures on the wall of the bedroom made it seem very spartan and the TV was a cheap portable with a very poor picture.
Also there was no way of setting or getting an alarm call - so bring your own alarm clock!
The place was clean enough and reception was friendly and efficient but there was an overall impression that cost cutting had gone too far particularly when compared with the prices charged.
