This ought to be such a charming hotel. It's rather "dotty", in a pleasant way and the people are friendly, though perhaps too many foreign staff to permit real local colour.

That said, the rooms are fine, especially the larger (chalet) rooms at the rear. Loads of space, peace and tranquility.

Make sure to get the best price on the rooms. Weekends seem to offer better deals as this is primarily a business hotel, yet oddly ignores the potential for private customers. Quoted rates do not include breakfast.

The dining room is a bit pretentious and "out of place" but the food in the bar is OK.

Somehow the places works, in an idiosyncratic way. A shame because it could be so much better. But good value place to stay in the area. Especially good for mountain-bikers in the Hurtwood Forest.

Situated in the village of Peaslake in the gorgeous Surrey Hills, Hurtwood Inn, is the ideal spot to stay if you like walking / cycling etc. We have stayed here many times, both in the main hotel, (when we're without the dogs), or in the "Garden Rooms" with the dogs, we and the dogs have always been made very welcome. The food and atmosphere in the restaurant is excellent, as is the bar food, the beer is good too, the dogs are welcome in all the public areas except the restaurant. I would recommend it most highly, particularly on the occassion of their Gastronomic Evenings, our best experience of all was when we stayed for Christmas, outstanding.

This is at best a three star hotel charging way to much for what it actually is. The food and rooms are ok but I found the owner rude and impolite - there was never a smile or a hello from any of the staff . And I never felt welcomed - it was almost like it was a chore for the owner in particular to have guests staying at her hotel.

This is a prime area for wedding guests to stay my advice would be avoid this place and find somewhere more friendly.
