“Nice but small”

I stayed at the Asperion hotel for 2 nights in a single room while visiting friends in the area. I chose the hotel based on the reviews on trip advisor but on arrival I found it to be a little disappointing.

The staff are polite and helpful and the room was very clean. It was also a short walk to both the train station and the centre of town.

The big downsides for me though were the size of the room and the breakfast.

The single room literally has space for a single bed and that's about it. There is a small rail with three hangers but no cupboards or drawers to put anything in. This meant I had to pretty much live out of my suitcase.

My room was also at the front of the building on the ground floor. The front of the building is lit at night which lights the room slightly and there is some noise from the street.

In terms of the breakfast, I found the selection to be pretty poor. As I don't eat eggs or a full breakfast I was limited to toast, cereal and yoghurt each morning. I thought the fact that the toast consisted of two tiny pieces was pretty poor.

We had to stay in guildford for a business trip, and were looking for a modern, very clean hotel. Well, this was it. Chef and manager were really nice as well, and the room was as shown on their site (no gimmicks). Breakfast offering was awesome (best of all the 7 hotels we stayed on our trip)

Location is a 4-5 minute walk from the Train station, and 8 minutes from downtown guildford.

Only issue was that there's not a full-time front-desk, so checking in late (past 10pm) was a bit of a hassle.

I travel a lot for work and have stayed in a lot of hotels. They are all much of a muchness, which is why this place is such a golden find. The “superior double” room was brilliant – there are about 3-4 of them in a smallish, modern one-storey extension out the back.

The single most important thing to me in a hotel room is the bed. The one in the room was 100% perfect. Not too soft, not too hard, a sensible headboard so you can sit up in bed reading of watching telly in comfort. The duvet and pillows were both big, fluffy and crisply clean. 10 out of 10.

The ultra-trendy bathroom only had a shower, but then I rarely if ever get the time to luxuriate in a bath – the shower is more important and this one was a fierce, torrential downpour of a power shower.

It’s the little things that matter; the free chocolate and mineral water in the fridge, being given a small jug of fresh milk to go with the tea/coffee making stuff, an iron & ironing board in the room for those last-minute de-crumplings. How many other places do you know that have an “honesty bar” after 10pm of quality wines, beers and spirits that you help yourself to and write down what you took?

Classy.

“Disappointing - suite was small and basic”

Our "suite" was a disappointment - only a token seating area (2 uncomfortable chairs and a small, low table - I can't think what you could use them for) and no bath (only a shower). Also a lot of noise through the night from the fridge (which we turned off) and our neighbours (which we could not). The hotel was clean and the staff friendly - but it was a lot of money for the size and quality of the room.

Great place to stay when on business in the local area.
Rooms are immaculately clean & spacious.
Breakfast is lovely & the owner it always keen to meet the needs of his clientele - lovely range of herbal teas.
Only downside is lack of evening meals but the accommodation, staff & breakfast more than makes up for this...oh and the complimentary chocolate in the fridge!
