Me and a mate paid less than £60 for the room, what can you expect when your only paying that much. The room was clean and a decent size, bathroom was nice, basic but adequate. the bar downstairs was nice with cheap drinks and good music. all staff were friendly. the hotel is a bit shabby and noisey till early hours of the morning but that wasnt a problem really. a perfectly fine place to sleep after a night out in newcastle, but look for somewhere else if your wanting a nice weekend away.

“Worst UK hotel we stayed in”

Whites Hotel

1 Nov 2007

By far, the absolute worst hotel we stayed in during our 14 day trip throughout the UK. There was a small drip of water in the shower so my husband nor I could shower. Tthe hotel was older and very noisy.

We're a young couple, in town for the Newcastle/Tottenham match and will never recommend nor stay in this hotel again. I can't believe Newcastle United would recommend this property for its fans!

“Don't stay here!”

I booked two nights at White's because it looked great on their website - shame they spent all their cash on marketing and not on improving their flea-pit of a hotel. The reception areas and corridors are really tatty and look just like a cheap hostel. The room was small and grotty - the carpets and bedding badly needed updating, and the bathroom was horrible, with a shower that flooded every time it was turned on. On my first night I was woken up at 4am by a fight outside my room, and on the second night by a fire alarm at 3am!

“fine for younger people”

Whites Hotel

6 Aug 2007

I stayed on my own in Whites in May.The receptionist was very nice - though I was charged an extra £4.95 for breakfast (the room itself cost £39 per night). The main areas of the hotel are grubby, especially the stairs and corridor - really threadbare and grimy. However, the room was really good - it had been refurbished and had a double bed, iron and board, sky tv, biscuits, hot chocalate etc. Also, the bathroom was very modern. The breakfast was really good but was served in the bar cum nightclub, which was a bit weird. It's a good walk to the jesmond tube station - about 3/4 of a mile. I would recommend this hotel for younger people only. I read in a previous review that the hotel was noisy at night but I had no probs and slept like a log.

“Unsafe for Female Guests”

Whites Hotel

8 May 2007
2/2 found this review helpful

I have just returned from a hen night in Newcastle. We stayed in Whites Hotel in Jesmond. The room was adequate. Three of use were allocated a room with a double bed and one camp bed - we paid a total of £195 b&b, £65 each.
On our return from our evening out at about 3am we discovered that two men were standing on the fire escape stairwell peering in at us in our room. We got a real fright so sought help from reception staff but were instead greeted with abuse.
There is no CCTV on this ouside stairwell and it passes bedroom windows.
NOT SAFE FOR FEMALE GUESTS.
